I need advice on this but not technical or I won't understand it and my brain will go into a state of numbness. My son is ten and would like to email with his friend so I'm going to attempt to set up an email address for him, from a different place than my own email provider and need something simple to set up, free, and which won't involve him receiving junk or obscene mail. I have never set up an email account before so can need help on how to do it. Thank you.

Why not use yahoo mail.. Go here: http://www.mail.yahoo.com and sign up for a free email account. It's step by step and I assure you it wont make you're brain numb.. You can avoid those spam mail's when you avoid on giving out your email address on some scam sites...

Thanks again Boyetski, i did my usual of putting it off again today but that was because he lost the internet connection whilst mine is fine, so first I'll need to play around with that one, then I'll tackle the email.

Basically most of that went over my head but my laptop is wireless and the other is plugged directly into the modem. We haven't looked at it tonight but will tomorrow - the one plugged in keeps turning itself off and my son does things to it which put trojans on and all sorts which have recentley been cleaned off for him. So presuming a router is a modem I'll unplug his tomorrow. Sorry for the late response, only some of the alerts have been working today. I'll refer back to this tomorrow, thanks

Hi thea, Ask him to open a yahoo mail. It is easy to crate there and they have an instruction to do it. It is more suitable for him. He can also download the Yahoo Messenger so he can chat with his friends from there.

Hi Thea, yes yahoo sounds good. I've used it for years and never had a problem. I hardly get any spam, and if I do it sends it straight into the spam box, which gets deleted. The set up is easy to use too. I've used hotmail too, but prefer yahoo. Gmail is another good one too, I hear, but he'll need someone to send him an invite before he can join. Best of luck.

i use a service called GMX. it is fairly new, so there are many addresses available that you really want, without a sequence of numbers on the end of your name. For example my address is simply myfullname@gmx.com it is easy to configure in Thunderbird, Outlook etc. too. and it's free!

the best best mailing service rite now is the yahoo mail. it is one of the safest and most popular mailing system. go to yahoomail and create a new account. junk and obscene mails doesn't depend on the mailing service provider it depends if the spammers have your email address then they will spam you. they should not get your email address. yahoomail also has the feature to use filter mails so all the mails will be filtered before coming to your inbox. so, i would recommend you yahoomail, thank you, happy mylotting :)
