I am a lawyer who represents the disabled. I help them obrain Social Security disability benefits. I see how they suffer everyday. I really DO NOT understand why our country cannot somehow provide all of its citizens with health care. The easiest way would be to enroll everyone in Medicare. They system is already in place, the people already involved in it know it; no new rules, no one fighting over every little thing as they would in proposing a new system. The insurance companies and pharmacies already get a piece of the pie so everyone would be happy (happier?) My clients are in horrific pain. Many need operations that they can't afford to get. Medicaid/MediCal is a sham. It is the most convoluted system I have ever seen. Our country was founded on terrific, democratic priniciples. We should remember this. What do the rest of you think? Do you think I am some sort of crazy Communist? What system do you think would or would not work?

Hey, I'm with you. I think this is the way to go in offering health care to more poeple, tweek the systems we have in place and get more people to be covered by them IF WE CAN FUND IT. We also need to wash out a lot of fraud, yes, including disability fraud. I realize the vast majority of those trying to get and recieving disability are genuinely in need, but I have also met my fair share of people gaming the system. WE also need to reign in insurance companies. Stop coverage caps, stop pre existing condition denials and other practices that shut people who are willing to pay for it out.
