Sarah "No-Show" (Currently 0-4) Gets 1000-PLUS Offers to Speak?

It will be interesting to see how her admiring fans spin this but former Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin, who quit in July with nearly a year and a half left in her term, has now turned out to be a "no-show" for at least the fourth time in recent months. "Organizers of an Anchorage event that has been billing Sarah Palin for weeks as a star speaker were left scrambling Wednesday after learning that the former governor won't be there for tonight's event and claims to have never been asked. It would be at least the fourth time in recent months that an anticipated Palin speech has fallen through after Palin and her camp disputed they had ever confirmed it. That includes the brouhaha over whether she'd speak at the annual congressional Republican fundraising dinner in Washington, D.C., this summer." http://www.adn.com/palin/story/912369.html Isn't it interesting how these groups keep falsely claiming Sarah is going to speak for them when she never said she would? Hmmm... Still, that hasn't kept her from getting offers for six-figure speeches. It's been reported she will make her first speech abroad when she travels to Hong Kong in September. Read more here: HONG KONG - Former U.S. vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin, once questioned about her lack of foreign policy experience, will make her first trip to Asia in September. The former Alaska governor will visit Hong Kong to address the CLSA Investors Forum, a well-known annual conference of global investment managers, the host announced Monday. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/32624246/ns/politics-more_politics/ And that's not all. "Sarah Palin has signed with the prominent Washington Speakers Bureau and is sorting through more than 1,000 invitations for speaking engagements and political appearances she has received since resigning the Alaska governorship, aides say. Palin speaking engagements are expected to draw six-figure prices each, Politico says. The Associated Press reports she has already accepted an engagement to speak to an investors forum in Hong Kong on Sept. 25. Meanwhile, Palin is said to be 85 percent finished with her book, and her lawyer, Robert Barnett, has a thick file of cable pundit, documentary and business offers for Palin." http://www.adn.com/3437/story/917167.html Would anyone be interested in starting a pool for how many of these "1000+" offers she accepts and at how many of them she actually shows...lol? Of course, if and when she doesn't show up at an event for which her appearance has been promoted it will simply be ANOTHER case of miscommunication, right? Annie

X, I wonder what will do better: Palin's book with alot of pictures, and large print, or Chinese Democracy? We know how well Chinese Democracy did, or didn't do. The funny comment I heard on this came via CNBC, who talked about the former speakers at this conference, and then finally said Sarah Palin. The host said: "can you pick out the name that doesn't fit". This conference is very influential, former Presidents Bush, and Clinton spoke at this, so has the last three FED chairman while still chairman of the FED, and now Sarah Palin. GOD HELP US ALL

I look forward to the day that one of these groups she's stood up actually has the agreement in writing (which, in this day and age is foolish to not have) so that they can sue her for breech of promise or breech of contract. I find it hard to believe that this many groups just "happen" to think she agreed to come when no one ever asked her. I just can't see that happening this often. I just can't Something somewhere is funny about all of this and if they don't stand up to her and defend their positions on her promises that she later denies then it will continue to happen. Someone somewhere has confirmed her acceptance. Either someone NOT from her camp is pretending to be one of her people or she's having her people make verbal agreements only so that she can later deny it ever took place since there nothing in writing to prove otherwise. But, I'll bet if they look hard enough, they'll find the phone records that prove calls were made from one group to the other making it look even more suspicious.

I'm with you, jerz, it's really hard to believe this would happen four times in a row with the same person. I'm sure this kind of miscommunication does happen now and then but this is too much. I suppose it could be someone not from her camp trying to make her look bad but it seems like Sarah "everyone's out to get me" Palin would have made sure to get to the bottom of something like that and made one of her public statements about the responsible party. NO, this isn't bashing and these events have been reported all over the media, not just on MSNBC. Annie

"I find it hard to believe that this many groups just "happen" to think she agreed to come when no one ever asked her. I just can't see that happening this often." This kind of thing is more frequent than you may realize and I'm not talking about Sarah Palin. I've worked in libraries for over 5 years and seen this garbage go on where they talk to some low level person who says something like "X would be happy to attend! We'll get back with you etc." Then you call to confirm a week before the event and find out that the person who initially took the call was a temp, never passed on the message, your own employee never got a real confirmation, and all those flyers you posted are just going to bring in a bunch of upset people. I've seen it happen with everything from martial artists to first aid instructors. The difference is, it doesn't even make local news much less national news. You may want to look at how many times Bill Clinton has had the same thing happen to him. It takes about 2 seconds of googling to find some examples. Of course the media isn't out to smear him so you haven't heard about it.

I can't understand why there is nothing in writing. You hire someone for over 100k and you don't have a signed contract? I provide written contracts to my customers and they are only 5k-15k. I think Sara's getting bashed again! MSNBC as a source! Are you kidding me? That's the Obama network!!

I'm not really sure why you're upset. Did you have tickets? Maybe there's someone in her organization who is doing a lousy job and responding to offers she hasn't approved. Bill Clinton and Al Gore make millions off speaking engagements. It's what people do when they are no longer in office and want to appear relevant. She's not in office anywhere, she's not running for anything. How many people are followed this closely when they aren't actually doing anything? The media is obsessed with her.

I really don't need to be "upset" by something to decide to start a discussion here about it. Hey, I've got no problem with anyone going on speaking engagements if there's someone willing to pay them to come and speak. I WILL say I'd make sure I got a written contract before I'd hire her to speak and there would be a clause to protect me or my organization if she was a no-show. Just sayin'... Annie

It isn't her aids that are to blame it is the "evil" media that edit all of her interviews, so she looks stupid. Do you know how hard it is to read EVERY newspaper, EVER day? That takes alot of time, who has times to run a state when you are to busy reading all of those papers. It was also the McCain people who wanted to make her look stupid (which I don't think is physically possible), they wanted her to be less Alaskian. I think she would be much better off writting a Palin to English dictionary that way the conservatives can translate what she says; and elect Ron Paul.

Let's see Obama said doctors get 30-50k for amputating a foot when it is $600-$1500. 57 states. No Lobbyist in his admin. If you read one of the other posts it has 100 lies Obama has made. Let's ignore that and concentrate on someone who doesn't even hold office! Let's not even talk about the biggest spender in the history of the world. This when tax revenues are way down. This guy IS a genius!!Sure unemployment is high, but let's get working on health insurance, cap and trade, the fairness doctrine and card check! Boy,that will help the unemployed!! Especially cap and trade. The jobs will flow to needy Chinese when we punish our businesses AND the pollution will just come from China and India instead of us! Will someone please explain to me how cap and trade will reduce pollution if these jobs will just go to China and India where their pollution regulation is no where as strict as our current standards?

I am crushed. I asked you nicely to stop bashing her. I love this woman and so do millions of people. We like how she is from middle America and shares our Conservative views. When you say hurtful things about her,its like you are attacking my family. I am very disappointed in you.

I'm really sorry, I didn't set out to crush you or disappoint you and I would certainly never attack your family! I really don't know what's so hurtful about what I wrote here and I'd hardly call it "bashing". Is it not true there have been at least four events where she had been scheduled to speak but had not shown up and is it not also true that in each case her spokesperson has said she'd never committed in the first place? Also, did she not leave office as governor far in advance of the end of her term? I mean, it's sure not like I'm "makin' things up"...lol! What do you mean by "middle America"? Alaska is in the far northwest so it's not anywhere near the middle of America. Were you referring to her being "middle class"? I think many people have a hard time considering someone who is a governor and had been a V.P. candidate as part of the middle class. Now, I'd say I'M from middle America and she really doesn't share my views. Annie

Carson, not only are you WRONG, but you need a geography lesson as well. Sarah isn't from middle American and untill last year she probably didn't even know where middle American was on a map. I have never heard you "nicely" ask anything of anyone on here, and your 9/100 says it all. When you attack peole on here, is that you attacking OUR families as well? I think I speak for the world in saying that we are VERY DISAPPOINTED IN YOU. You betcha!

Looks like Sara is getting the last laugh! She will make BIG money giving speeches and from her book. Congratulations Sara! Wow, look at all the people that are willing to pay six-figures to have her speak. You dummies on the left should have ignored her,she owes part of her success to you. She was an unknown until Obama sicked reporters by the dozen to Alaska to dig up dirt on her. Now she's going to be rich and the next president of the US! You guys on the left don't get it. The one you hate the most is the one we love the most! Please don't get mad at me for calling your people dummies,it's just good natured ribbing!!!!!!

Hey, double responses in one discussion, is that allowed...lol? Just asking... Oh, well, money isn't everything, at least not to us dummies on the left. You're right, she was an unknown until McCain was made to choose her as his running mate. As for it being Obama's fault the media went looking for information about her, do you really believe if the Democratic running mate had been someone no one had ever heard of they wouldn't have been "digging up dirt" on that person too? The "next President of the United States??? NNNOOOOOOOO!!!! Don't ever worry about me getting mad over good-natured ribbing. That's part of what makes myLot fun, don't you think? I mean, can't we agree on ONE thing...lol? Annie

Please tell me you're not wasting more sarcasm on me, Carson, because I'm fighting the urge to squeal "He LIKES me, he really, REALLY LIKES ME!" I've heard of Mark Levin but I've never heard his show. I may have seen or heard him as a guest on someone else's show but I'm not sure. Annie

Well people who really want her to "go away" should be happy if she's not speaking somewhere. By definition, she "went away" because she wasn't there. Piasabird, I believe you when you say you'd like her to go away. The left wing extremists on this site just don't want the same thing as you. She could be buried in the desert and they'd dig her up just to bash her some more.

I don't understand what the discussion is about. Do you want Palin to speak or not to? Who's on blast? The people claiming Palin would speak or Palin for not showing up after saying "I never planned on it"? I remember one of the biggest criticisms coming from opposition was that Palin would immediately go on speaking tours. Now people are mad because she hasn't yet, but might, maybe, if these plans are true, go through with them? She shouldn't even be "tweetin'" according to some. (Including me! That crap's for teenagers, ffs! :P) Themediocredebater will have to explain this beef to me. :P lol .. JK! GREAT, I say, great! It's 2am here and I don't know if you're trying to bust Palin's chops or purchase tickets in advance to see her. :D Miscommunication. There's never any missed communications when it comes to Palin.

I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings but the cat's out of the bag. Sara NEVER AGREED TO DO ANY OF THE EVENTS THAT WERE REPORTED. AS MOST OF YOU KNOW SHE COMMUNICATES WITH ALL OF US ON HER FACEBOOK PAGE.THIS IS SLANDER !!

Let me get this straight - the only "evidence" you have that she never agreed to do any of these events is that she said so on her Facebook page? Ted implied there had been some kind of "revelation" about this but that's been what her spokesperson has said each time, that she'd never committed to the appearance. I find it to be a strange coincidence that this has happened so many times. So all of these supposedly reputable conservative organizations happen to be run by liars? Annie
