If only our own politicians would follow what Mar Roxas did on his political career, we could only have ONE opposition that would spar with the present administration's ticket this coming 2010 election.
I hate politics because as what I had observed from so many administrations passed they were all the same. Whoever sits on the reign on our government has a different style of corruption from the head down to their subordinates. I may not say all of them but majority has their own share of corruption. That's why I don't believe anymore of GOOD GOVERNANCE...
I posted this topic not that I am supporting him but just for great admiration of him. Sacrificing hiw own interest for the unity of his political umbrella as well as for the common good of the people....

Mar Roxas was the most agressive among those who wanted to run for president this coming election... so his decision to step aside for Noynoy is really a shocker for the whole Philippines... nobody saw this coming... and i also hope that others will follow suit... like Bayani Fernando, the current Mayor of Makati (forgot his name), Jamby Madrigal, Loren Legarda... these are the would be candidates who i think has no chance of winning... so they would just be wasting a lot of time, money, and effort...

It would be better for the Philippines if there's only two parties and two Presidential candidates to be chosen from so that our votes will not be wasted with "nuisance" candidates. The problem in our country is that all citizens seemed ambitioned to become a President without thinking of their capabilities.
It is just wise for Senator Roxaz to step down as Liberal standard bearer if they want to win, because Roxaz is not really that popular among Filipinos. Though he is visible and with good promotion about himself, he lacks charisma to the public and the people feel tired seeing his face on the television.
Some of the officemates hated him for his "too" self-imposing personality. His decision is just right. I don't see it as an act of heroism, I think, he was pressured by the popularity of Senator Noynoy which is under Liberal party also. If he would stubbornly not give up his ambition, people saw him as "too dumb" to know the truth.

Philippines is a democratic country and every who are qualified to run for presidency or any position in the government are welcome. Whether Roxas is popular or not the point there is he sacrifices his ambition and all his efforts and money not primarily for Noynoy but for the sake of his country....Thanks for responding...

I hope that this scenario is sustaining. A lot of things could still happen between today and May 2010. It is not that I doubted him. Of course what he did was heroic to have sacrificed his political ambition for the common good. I hope that a good candidate will really suffice before elections.

I used to like Mar Roxas because of his Mr. Market scheme. and probably because he's one of the new-bie senators there, but seeing this kind of comments from other members makes me think otherwise about him. but the guy hasn't really done something corrupt, right? then why would you hate? he does commercial like all the others, isn't that a sin too? at least he step down, maybe doubtful but still probably a hard choice

Mar Roxas is definitely a role model!
The very time I heard the live news, I felt sad, really sad. I don't now where's the feeling coming from. :(
I just turned 18 last March, and it will be my first time to vote in 2010. That is, IF I will vote.
But now, I lost the desire in participating on the election. I want MAR ROXAS to be my country's president. I want HIM BADLY. I admire HIM since then.
And now, she made me even more proud of him.

Yes...so sad. Anyway it is a long way to go yet...who knows Noynoy would turn the back to Roxas...? and if this would happen, it would obviously their gimmick and we are just been fooled around...I hope it would not happen...thanks for responding...

No matter what the status would be. He could still run. The point here is, by giving up his candidacy for presidency would give a unity of the LP party and strengthen the votes that would be cast instead of two candidates should Noynoy and Roxas would run separately...thanks for responding...

Well there are others that still do not believe that Mar is really that sincere but I do think that the sacrifice would bolster his chances of winning a lower position like VP or maybe he could ran for senator again. I think giving way to Noynoy was something he did not expect but I read somewhere here like history is repeating itself from what had happened to Cory before. She was not vying for any position at that time where the opposition were so divided. All of a sudden her name was nominated and the rest was history. It is as if right now that same scenes are reminiscent of the past events. Similar but different personalities are now arising from the scenes. I wonder if it is just orchestrated or just coincidence.

You're right my friend. Well, let's see if Roxas really sincere in what he decided. As of now I admired him. It would be obvious they would be fooling us if Noynoy suddenly would turn down the proposed ticket for him on Presidential race...thanks for responding...

i don't know why mar roxas pulled out of the candidancy. whether he run or not will not affect the standing of nonoy and also nonoy is not yet decided if he will run anyways, maybe this is just a strategy of mar roxas.i don't know if nonoy decided not to run , if mar roxas can declare again to run if nonoy just said no to run.
i feel that nonoy does not have to run as president to served the country. he can run frst as vice president or even just senator again. if not only for the legacy of his parents he will not stand a chance to win in the politics.

You have an idea my friend...we never know really their strategies. If Noynoy would not run in spite of Roxas gave in, it would be obvious, that's their game...as of now I appreciate Roxas if he sincerely gave in for the unity of his political party and for the sake of the country...thanks for responding...
