Attention All Geek Girls!

We are Geeks, not Nerds. - Do you know the difference? If so, and you are brave enough, join our group.

New category alert! This category is the result of a discussion wherein it became abundantly clear that many of us women here, are basically loner types with mega talents. Many of us have discovered previously unknown commonalities that have drawn us together and fostered an understanding of each other as well as ourselves. We've also discovered that growing up we were all basically geeks! Which goes a long way to explaining our sense of isolation from the realities around us. lol So I think we deserve our group, our own category, our own place to come to, to express our geekness in whatever form that takes. Humor, poetry, short stories, questions, answers or whatever else floats into our enquiring geek brains. We have a Pres, a Vice-Pres, a Sexetary, and a Treasurer. You will meet them all anon......... Men are allowed to join, only if they post a picture of themself wearing an article of female clothing. Conical bra, shoes, lipstick...........you get the picture. Otherwise they will NOT be allowed to sport the Official Geek Girl Badge. Geek Girls are special people. They have insight, perspective, understanding and talent up the wahzoo. And like all talented people they have their vulnerabilties and insecurities and abuse of the Geek Girls will not be tolerated. Are you a Geek Girl, a wannabe Geek Girl, or a Geek in guy clothing? If so, join us and let's explore and celebrate our Geekness together. And remember...............:

All I can say is, About Friggin time!!! Yeah, I guess you could call me a Geek Girl. I was a loner all through school. I didn't blend well, for sure. I was an art and English major, studying hard, while it was party time for most other gals my age. You know, I didn't even try wacky-weed until I was 19! (Oh, the things I missed!) I was either deeply into my studies or up to my elbows in clay or oil paint. In high school, I had two "friends"; gals who had the same quirkiness that I had. We were all Art Honor students, although they either didn't have another major or had something other than English as a second major. We hung together, whenever we weren't busy with the Art Club or some Decorating Committee or other, and talked art stuff. I'm so glad to finally have a place I feel I "belong". I found my home. Thanks so much, Sparks!!! So, where's the grub?

Welcome to the Geek Girls club mentalward.............and with a moniker like that, I'm surprised we didn't have one sooner! ROFL I'd upload a badge for you, but I'm starting to get paranoid about uploading the same picture over and over on the same thread. Isn't that grounds for banning or something? So you'll have to share Irish's. She wanted a green one anyway! LOL

Well, I know she'll choose the right candidate for the cleaning position. I have faith in her ability to, uhh, interview. Yeah, interview. Let's see now, do I want brain food or junk? Hmmm... okay brain food it is. I'm in the mood for some chips and dip. I'll bring the Ring Dings and Ho Ho's to the next meeting. Hey, are there dues to pay or do we just bring something geeky with us to each meeting? I could bring my Popeil Pie-O-Matic pie shell maker!!!!

You got it! {Makes a mental note: Ding Dongs and gadgets.} I haven't used most of the gadgets I have in my kitchen, like my pasta maker, meat slicer, juicer, all kinds of cool gadgets. Oh, we could have a blast! I'm going right now to clean out all my cabinets. No, wait, I did use the juicer, once. Oh, well, it can always be modified!

Ok I admit it...I'm a geek. Always been a geek, and even worse, I've been a geek girl in a geek guy's profession once or twice in my life. But this geek girl is re-entering the work force next week so my time and talents are going to be in limited supply. As for the "no abuse" of geek girls policy you've come up with...I protest. I like a little abuse every now and again. It keeps me on my toes.

hi sparkofinsanity oh yes thats a great idea and i think I have'always been a geek girl.I had talents but socializing and oneupmanship were not two of them. I had only a couple of'close f riends and thats all I wanted. I was choosy about guys and did'not find the right one til I was almost thirty.but he was the right one and he was outgoing and extraverted while I was much the introvert so we made a complete pair.I love to write, short stories, novels, poems as long as it takes writing.and I read all the time when i am not here mylotting.oh hey PIkey could join if he wore his pointy bra. ha ha ha

Thank goodness there may be a place for me! I would like to apply for a badge please. Okay...Let’s see I have boobies (good ones too and they are real!) I prefer my lap top to most people and I can re format a PC in record time! I much rather stay home and read than go out and party unless I am already drunk which hardly ever happens these days and I love visiting the library. Do I qualify?

*stands up* Hello. My name is Washu and ....I'm a Geek. XD This thread is very fun. I have a hard time talking to people outside the safety of the internet. It seems no one can relate to me even though I know so much about many different topics. I love video games, anime, drawing, cooking, gardening, astrology, music, and chatting online. ^_^ I'm a little outdoors-y too. Feel free to message me.

I was an outcast and a misfit my entire childhood, and then somewhere in my teens, while the only thing that changed about me was that I was no longer shy, suddenly instead of a misfit outcast I became one of those cool "outsider" kids. LOL I still didn't quite ft in, but people seemed to want to "fit in" WITH me and the other non-followers! The key was no longer giving a tinker's damn about whether people would accept me for who I am, and then all of a sudden they did! When you WANT to be accepted and part of the group, they hate you and look at you with contempt but when it becomes apparent that you really don't care WHAT those fools think of you, suddenly they want to be your friend Go fgure. Yeah, I'm in your club, I'll be "Sergeant At Arms" (club lingo for asskicker).

AngryKitty, It's funny you should say that. I didn't have my light bulb moment till in my early twenties. One day I realized it was time to quit worrying about what others thought of me and so I did. The next day and from that day on, I began to realize that I liked myself whether anyone else did or not. Hugsss leenie

-Enters the lodge wearing her Viking corset from the festival, to show off her wonderful endowments- Sparks- I just found this thread today, I've not been on as much as I have liked! I love this new interest! I never really admitted to being a Geekette until my late twenties, but yes I am definitely one. I play video games, I still game the old way, and I've been going to the Renn Fest up here since I moved up! (Full costume mind you). I'm a Star Wars fan, and a Trekki and yes one can be both, though I slightly more favor Star Wars hehe. My husband is a Minnesota Darth Vader impersonator and dresses as Lord Vader every year at Samhain for the little children. We actually go out to dinner that day fully dressed. My husband mimic Vader's voice without assistance (save his breathing device-that we've got assistance for), plus wookie, and Yoda. Our children love it. We play lightsabers daily, run around outside like ninjas, and just plain have fun! I'm still loosing weight, but when I'm down I shall be sporting Leia's Slave costume one year!! Thanks for the fun interest Sparks. Have a wonderful Friday! Namaste-Anora

YAY! Finally a place to call home. I have been floating is cyber space for so long all alone with only my avatar and trusty ball mouse to keep me company! But one question ... is Gamer Geek okay? I am all about anything with a great story line, and lots and lots of zombie/alien and or zombie alien butt kicking on any platform (cuz I have all three major, a DSI and a PSP (getting the PSPGO soon) and a kick butt gaming computer at the house..)! Beyond my addiction to the bright flashy-ness of my computer/tv screens I am also an avid doodler, I love to write and read, and I create all of my Yule gifts for everyone every year... and have done so since I was like 10. I don't remember actually buying a full gift for any one in FOREVER!

Hmm, I'm also not sure if I'm a geek or not....does being talented, insightful understanding etc make me a geek? You seem to have covered pretty much all women in your range of interests! Having said that, any group that makes men put on womens clothing to join is definitely worth the effort. Geeks untie! (I mean't to say Geeks unite there, but I'll leave the typo as 'Geeks untie' sounds like fun too...!)
