CD/DVD-RW drive not reading Blank CD/DVD

I bought a CD/DVD-RW driver at least 1 year ago. wehn I bought it. It was working absoulutely fine for me but now when I insert it the light of my fderiver blinks for a long time and then stops. When I go into My computer and click on the driver is a "samsung Octoedge CD/DVD-RW" driver. My computer is Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version 2002 service pack 3. And one more thing my driver is sometims able to read a black CD,but a DVD at all !!! but my drive ia able to read CD's and DVD's which are not blank and have some data. Plz Help... :)
