Did this grab your attention? Good, now I want to know the answer! Hahaha
Ok so here it is - I was emptying my tumble dryer earlier and was wondering which is better to do, set the dryer on at a higher temperature putting it on for say half an hour or put it on a cooler setting for twice as long? I guess the hotter the temperature the higher the risk is of shrinkage and the more electric you are burning and wouldn't the items in there sweat rather than dry if it is too hot?
So is it better to put your dryer on a cooler setting for longer? What do you do?

I keep mine set the same place all the time. I try to get them dried as soon as possible. The longer u run it the higher your bill would be & mine is bad enough as it is. Have a great weekend.

Hi there dear friend, I always think that intriguing and cheeky headings make discussions more tempting, curiousity as well. Back in the days when I used to tumble dry and it seems like eons ago now, I used to put the machine on for longer and the temperature warm rather than hotter, if my memory serves me correctly, but I do believe we had economy 7 at the time and it all depending on the time of day as to whether the electricity you used was cheaper, so I do remember putting it on only at night. But mainly during the Winter or rainy days, because I so much preferred putting it on the line, makes it smell much nicer and the clothes are less likely to need ironing which I hate and can't do. But obviously with the British weather as it is it's nearly a case of having to tumble dry regardless.

Hi there wolfie34
To me one of the most of important parts to the discussion is in the title. I love coming up with cheeky and original titles as I am sure you have noticed. It woudl come as no surprise to my friend that I have actually used my tumble dryer more this summer than I did during the winter! During the cold season the heating is on so I can put clothes over the radiators to dry. I love to dry clothes on the washing line outside but like you say we haven't had much chance to do that lately! Today I would be worried it will actually stay on the line!!
Thanks wolfie X

Yes it has been rather windy here too! And I don't even like baked beans so I'm innocent (for once!) You could always do your Mary Poppins of course ;0) Happy Washing! And you know cheeky titles appeal to me, but I guess you already knew that, ho hum....

hi again hummy! I dont have an option really.. at least not the option my moms dryer has.. at the laundry mat down stairs in my building its 50 mins for 1.75$ and you only get dry/perm press/cool air as options.. no warm or medium.. hah.
I have found a way to save my clothes and have them dry too.. say i have 3 loads of clothes, i put the three loads in 3 dryers. what happened at first when i moved in here.. i put 3 washes into 3 dryers, and i ended up having damp stuff at the end of the 50 mins! and if i put them in for another 50 mins!! well they'd be shrunk and burned smelling! so i started putting them into four dryers. 3 washers 4 dryers!

Hi ya Sissygrl
I am glad you know what you doing!! Haha
Hey if it works doing it that way then don't change it!! I only have 2 options on my dryer, hot or cold and then the timer dial that goes up to 240 minutes I think!! I try not to use it much but with the kind of weather we get in the UK it is a matter of having to when you have kids!
Cheers Siss

Hi Humbug, well I manage to shrink things just fine in the washing machine, don't even need to resort to a tumble dryer for that, which is just as well as I don't have one, and don't want one. What would be the point, it's always hot so things dry outside on a sort of clothes horse but Greek style, and if it rains I just drag it inside from the balcony.
Now in the winter when nothing dries for days, using a dryer would cause mouxla, that's mould to you, and there's nothing more depressing than having that stuff around. I'd say throw the thing out and go natural, better for the environment and all that. Then you could invest in one of those nice pully dryers that hang over the cooker, I always quite fancied one of those.
