I got a mail form paypal last week with a notice of a payment from me, which I never did. Somebody has managed to hack my account and take all my paypal (150 $) money to buy in a shop. I made a reclamation with paypal, and after 1 week they said there is not enough evidence that a crime has been done and they cant do nothing. I reclamed and didnt get answer anymore. I write then to the shop who got the money, and they checked and saw that a third person really used my paypal account and bought from them. They saw that there was a hacker crime and were so friendly to give me my money back. Paypal did nothing! The shop helped me, and pyapal did absolutely nothing. They even didnt check, otherwise they would come easily to the same conclusion as the shop. I am so dissappointed and afraid of using my paypal now. I thought they are reliable????

hello rubiana6, that hacker must be good. he/she is getting money from other people's account. he/she must stop doing that for earning money online is hard. good thing the shop helped you. hope you were able to get your money back for you deserve it.

Oh My God. In this situation, the action should have been taken by Paypal, not that store. They are very irresponsible it seems . I should be very careful also.

I once had a problem with paypal. i bought something from Taiwan and never recieved it.. from ebay, and they actually refunded my money back.. i never have much money in my paypal to worry about it lol. probably the most i ever had was 30$! Glad to hear you got your money back.. but do you think since they where quick to give you your money back, that that shop was the one that hacked your account ?

the shop looked in their documents and saw that a third person bought something from them with my paypal account. They even could give me the name and address of the person who hacked my account and saw that it was not me. Therefore they was so kind to give my money back, they was really very helpful. Actually they did paypals job, to investigate and refund the fraude. It was very easu to see that there was a hacker. Thats why i sam sure paypal did really nothing, didnt make any investigation, nut just ignored.

I think its very odd that paypal couldnt find sufficient evidence to show that your account was hacked. I mean, there is IP uages etc. How was it that you got hacked? Guess your password? A few tips im sure you already know, use upper and lower case passwords, throw a number or 2 in there, maybe a symbol if you can. For example password = ^PaS5w0Rd^, makes it much harder to guess. I would be very grateful for that shop though, they didn't have to give you that cash back.

yes, i think my password was hacked. Now i have a very difficult password and also change it every 2 months. I really appreciate what the shop did, they didnt haave to refund the money, but they did and helped me and told me the name of the hacker and address.

Thats very sad and its very terrible on the part of paypal. They should have atleast checked it and they would have learned the truth then. But i think they might have got vexed with all the people saying the same like you and when they checked it might have turned spam.So they might have ignored you.. Anyway Iam happy that you have got your money

yes, it makes me really angry to see that paypal obviously did nothing to check. If they had only written to the shop (I gave them the name of the shop), they would have told them the same like they told me, the name of the hacker who did this. So thats a prove that paypal really did nothing to check and investigate.

Where the internet is involved, the possibility of being hacked is endless. i have had that happen before, and I called the bank and got it straightened out right away. They know me at my bank, and know that I would not have emptied my account of everything via paypal, and then overdrawn it. I also made a claim with PayPal and got it fixed up right away.

That must have been terrible for you. I am surprised to hear that about Pay Pal. I think all of us on My Lot have Pay Pal accounts. It is awful that a hacker got into your account. I often get emails from ones pretending to be Pay Pal saying my account has been suspended. That can be upsetting but after I check my account all seems to be fine. I was really cross when I got an email that looked like I had just bought a laptop off E Bay which I hadn't done so. I am a bit afraid of using Pay Pal. I make sure I always log in from an Internet search engine and never an email. I don't do Internet banking but I get emails from ones pretending to be banks. I am pleased that the shop gave your money back but Pay Pal didn't help you much at all. Good luck in the future.

Oh that's so sad, and I am beginning to worry now because I have some pending payments from paypal, i will still have to wait for my other payouts before I make a transfer to my bank. But anyway my payouts through a paypal is just small so I don't have to worry that much. But the bottom line is this, why paypal couldn't protect its clients?a lot of people around the world are using paypal with online payment transaction.

This is awful I am also afraid now as I have a paypal account too, I think I should be using the money more often there. I use the money only for shopping online though so every time when I get paid here I buy something there. I am really sorry for you.

Paypal isn't reliable and will never be. Have you read the terms of service of paypal? It's too ridiculous to express using words. A passage from paypalsucks.com "1. According to PayPal accepting their ToS (Terms of Service) in effect means you waive your rights to credit card consumer protection laws if you want to use their service, and that you may not issue a chargeback for unauthorized use of your credit card and PayPal account, or if you do, then they have the right to limit your account. Is this legal? We don't know. But it's how Paypal operates" I have had major problems with them as well. Threatening me with all kinds of things...

Thank you for sharing with us about your experience using paypal. Now we must more careful for that if maybe it could happen to us. The next question is how to avoid such experience then we all need paypal account for every payment from our online activities? For me, it is so simple that we should not have bigger account balance stayed on our paypal account. Easy to say if we only have $10 in our account and not more than that, and maybe this will not happen.. Me myself always withdraw my money to my bank account as soon as possible if i do not need this for my online payment. happy myLot

Thank you for letting us know about your sad experience with paypal. I was under the impression that Paypal is a very secured site (I guess I'm wrong). Paypal should have at least checked their system to verify your claim. The shop have a way of knowing that your account was hacked and paypal doesn't have one? It involves money and knowing that everything is done online, they should have the best possible means of verifying things. If the shop sent the goods already to the person who hacked your account and yet they refunded you still--I hope their business grow more. Paypal my paypal--I hope you know what you're doing.

Paypal are not very good with situations like this. i got fed up with them when I was selling on Ebay. A buyer said they hadn't received my item so Paypal gave their money back from my account, even when i sent them copies of the buyer's feedback from the site saying they had received it after all!
