Is Democracy INSANE?

The nature of democracy demands that popular fallacies become official truth—any politician who opposes this is voted out of office— so that government decisions are based upon fantasy not fact, which is madness.
The insanity bestowed by democracy is not an accident but implicit in its nature, which is a communal understanding lacking both moral restraint,
(for there is no church law allowed to hinder the demands of the people)
and personal responsibility,
(for there is nobody to blame, there is no one charged with caring about truth, there are only agents of the peoples' will, who care only about keeping their jobs)
so it cannot recognise right from wrong nor fact from fancy and is insane; which now (circa 2009) makes government the enemy of order, justice and truth. (Also see Plato's opinion)*
*he had lost all faith in the system of democracy. He seems to have regarded it simply as grossly inefficient, as calculated merely to endow with authority and power those who happened to gain the ear of the ignorant populace, and who most probably themselves would be ignorant and incompetent men; and it must be said that the post-Periclean democracy of Athens appeared to bear out this opinion to the letter.

Our founding fathers were opposed to democracy, (mob rule). That's why they made our nation a republic where no one has total control.

Good answer bestboy!
If every person had their way it would be mob rule.
That is why we elect reprsentatives (based on their agreement with the majority) to vote for laws that represent our values.
So, why is it that those we have elected...are swayed by the minority rather than the majority?

Because the majority won't speak up, and because they think the other persons representative is the one who is screwing up, not theirs. That is why I think we should have term limits for the congress as well as the president.
