Do you feel a need to be perfect?

It is often good to remember that one of our goals in life is to 'not be perfect'. We often lose track of this and when we make mistakes, we think that we are not measuring up to what's expected of us. Life becomes much less demanding once we stop trying to be perfect and aim for imperfection instead. This doesn’t mean that we don’t strive to be our best. We simply accept that there is no such thing as perfection, especially in life. We are all in a ceaseless state of movement. At this very moment our hair is growing, our cells are dying and being reborn, and our blood is moving through our veins. our life changes more than it stays the same. Even if we reached perfection for a moment, it could not last and trying to hold on to perfection or forcing it to happen causes us nothing but frustration and unhappiness. In spite of this, many of us are still in the habit of trying to be perfect. One way to nudge ourselves out of this tendency is to look at our lives and notice that no one is judging us to see whether or not we are perfect. Sometimes, this thought that we have to be perfect is a holdover from our childhood, an ideal we inherited perhaps from a demanding parent. We need to remember that we are adults now, and we can choose to let go of the need to perform for someone else’s approval. So don't be too hard on yourself the next time you fall short, your body will thank you for it.

not really... because i know no one is perfect. anyone who thinks they are is only fooling them self's. i feel the need to be certain ways or this or that but never to be "perfect" no one can be perfect because we all make mistakes and we all do good. if someone was perfect i don't think they would be human lol

Hi sameroad, Thank you for commenting and I agree a perfect person would not be human. There are those however, who feel that they must try to be perfect and they are often very unhappy people. Blessings.

not actually perfect Pose but just next to the best (lol) just kidding, friend. I do agree with your ideas written. I just feel a need to the more right manners, decisions and thinkings in order to come up to much better results. Don't have to be perfect but appreciate much if can be above average to some and even just average to others.

That was amazing. Very well said! That should be in a inspirational book or something. I do feel the need to be perfect, to do things in a certain way. And I never get anything done, and everything is always a mess. I just can't win! :-)

Hi stephanie, Thank you for commenting and I know what you mean. Many people think that they have to be perfectionists and are constantly doing things over. I hope the post helps you see that we should do our best and be content with that. Blessings.

People usually don't expect us to be perfect ,and usually we are our biggest critics. Things usually go better when we take time to relax.

Hi Mirita, There are those who feel the need to do everything perfect and I think it's often a left over from trying to please a parent. Thanks for commenting. Blessings.

Hello Pose. I try to be perfect when I do things, but it is hard to as always, because there is always something that I will miss. So I don't think that it is a must to be always perfect. I like the saying that no one is perfect. I cannot be perfect because even great men cannot be. But it is ok to try to be perfect to make life and work towards a better situation. In short, so long as we make some progress, that is enough.

Hi williamjisir, Thank you for commenting. We should always try to do our best, but some people feel a great need to do everything perfect and get upset with themselves when they fail. This is my meaning here, as such people tend to be very unhappy. We must love ourselves as we are, even when we fail to measure up, because it also helps us to understand and have more patience with others. Blessings.

I think that at some point just about everyone feels the need to be perfect for some reason. But whether they stay like that their whole lives... well I know I'm not perfect. Sometimes I find myself wondering what I could do to be a better person but I don't dwell on these thoughts long. I have although felt like I was letting people down when something went wrong in the past. Instead of doing something about it though I just wallowed in the self-pity... lame right? I do have to say that I disagree when you say that nobody is judging us... I go to high school and am everyday judged in some way because I don't meet somebody's standards or something stupid like that. I've learned to let it roll off my shoulders and even sometimes go as far as to laugh at their ignorance and disrespect. When I laugh they get annoyed and leave me alone. So everyday we are being judged by people. Everywhere we go there will at sometime be a judging eye upon us. But whether we crumble under their pressure and "try to be perfect" or whether we just keep being ourselves and act like they're not there... that's all on us. God Bless.

Hi eternal_ink, Thank you for your comment and I find that younger people tend to be more judgemental. Very few will expect you to be perfect and I'm pleased that you have learned to let it roll off your shoulders, that is the right way to go. Blessings.

I don't feel a need to be perfect. People put too much pressure on eachother. All I feel the need to do is to do my best in life. That's all that should really matter in the world. If we push ourselves too hard, we will only burn out, and there will be a lot of unnecessary competition.
