Do we rely on too much on drugs?

September 4, 2009 5:17am CST
I woke up this morning to my breakfast of 4 different types of drugs. Ok I do have MS and this is all I know to help me with the pain and other problems I have. I would like to look into Eastern style medicines/herbs to see if they can help. It is so easy for Drs to fill out a script for painkillers and they are so easy to become addicted to. What are your views on western v eastern style of medicine? Do you think in the West we are nations of drug takers? Is it always neccessary to take so many drugs?

the stress of modern life style certainly has taken its toll. we no longer take medicines to cure but we have started taking them to continue our rat race. yes eastern style medicines are somewhat better but commercial interests of a few imposes conventional medicines upon us.

hey there. I know many people that need modern western type medicines just to get on and survive for various reasons. What about you? Do you use both or just one style of medicine? thanks for the comment.

I think that western medicines are bad for you in the long run. They give you short term pain relief, but most contain harmful chemicals which can lead to other diseases and can also be addictive! I believe in preventing illness through natural healthy foods and not allowing harmful chemicals into my body. Eastern medicines have a long history of healing people, while western medicine is only relatively new. People here seem to be realising this now and going back to a more natural form of healing, such as those found in traditional eastern medicines!

hey there. I can understand not wanting to take a lot of medicine. I think a combination of both western and eastern seems like a good idea. It isnt suggested very often in the West. thanks for the comment.
