I watched the movies before I went to the books and being not a very keen book reader anyway, I much prefer the movies and although I know they have their problems, I still believe they stand up as fantastic movies, especially up against a lot of rubbish that is released nowadays. I did read through the Half Blood Prince before I saw the film and can see why people sometimes say they are disappointed as a lot of things I expected to be in the film were not. But I still very much enjoyed it. Fantasy films tend to be my favourites due to the absolute magic and beauty that can be shown in them. I suppose people with wonderful imaginations could just imagine those things while reading the books, but I really enjoy seeing something like that on screen.

I love all the Harry Potter books but when the movies eventually came on I was so pleased and I wanted to compare them with the books to see if they were an exact match! I thought that they were pretty close. Also, as a result of having read the books when it got to a certain scene in the movie I would recognise what was about to happen next. I love both the films and the books, I think that they compliment eachother. Andrew

i like both of them. Book have advantage when it comes to story. Films can never go as deep into the story as books do. Due to the time limit, films have to be made shorter while novels dont have any time limit so they provide a more efficient story. But in terms entertainment i prefer movies as the books dont provide any action, or adventure while films do. One example is the climax of order of the phoenix. Since the books are now over, im looking forward to DH Part 1

Definitely the books, hands down! Its kinda hard for the movies to have the same exact storyline like the books because of the movie-time limit. They have to try and shorten the story and the most beneficial way to do it was by changing a few things here and there but still trying to fit the basic facts in the movies. But I hear that the movie for book 7 will be split into two movies(part 1 and part 2). They can't cut much for Deathly Hallows because almost everything is essential to complete the whole series. Otherwise it will look incomplete and many questions will be unanswered.

of course the books. the movies are no match when compared to books, specially when the people are not showing the better story, they are changing the story and are concentrating more on grand effects rather than the story line. Half Blood Prince broke all records amongst the movies, when it opened up.... but soon fell over drastically due to the lack of coordination on what to be shown and what not.
