What is your opinion on cosmetic surgery?

A friend of mine recently took cosmetic surgery. She did become a little more beautiful but is still far from perfect. She decided to try another kind of surgery in half a year. But I do not think that could help her. What could be really perfect? Since nothing on the earth are without objections, why expect we so much for perfect egos? Considering cosmetic surgeries take some young girls' so much time that they have no time to improve themselves, I do not like such things at all. What do you think about it?

Beauty is subjective because we all have our own opinions. I personally have nothing against cosmetic enhancement as long as they are done on a person in the right state of mind. This is a bit difficult to tell sometimes so I think it's safe to say that when a person starts one procedure, another will likely follow. I think, whatever makes you feel beautiful so as long as it is not an obsession or addiction.

Cosmetic surgery has a good and bad effects. Many want to improve their looks by undergoing cosmetic surgery but some had a bad experiences after because of complication and they are not satisfied about the result of surgery. Many are obsessed or addicted to cosmetic surgery. From those who want to undergo cosmetic surgery they should go the license cosmetic surgeon to be safe.

The price of vanities, really and we all are guilty of being vain but there is a variation in the magnitude of our vanity as a whole. Simple rule to follow is to get psychological evaluation and conduct due diligence. A licensed practitioner doesnt guarantee good results. Many licensed practitioners have suits filed against them and you'll only know if you conduct comprehensive background checks. Better safe than sorry

there has been some news about this cosmetic surgery locally in the philippines. because instead of getting beautiful they ended with some burns, others got cancer after some years having it done cause the doctor who did it was no doctor and was fake, others are real doctor but still committed some mistakes but would hardly admit the mistakes. but of course there are more good results than those who had experienced those outwanted results. but still that says something about having it done on you. i would not want to have it done except some minor ones that does not involved operation but only some light touches here and there like lip tattoo. those i think are some that are not with any risk involved cause that is hardly a surgery but still can make a person beautiful having it done on them.

Well I feel a really beautiful person is the one who is good to others, help others at the time of need.So for me it is more important to be a good person instead of being beautiful. Even I consider such kind of surgeries a waste of time and money.

I think it's sad that someone would resort to having themselves operated on to meet some idealistic thinking of how they are "supposed" to look. I guess in the end you have to be happy with yourself, but I wonder, how many people who have cosmetic surgery are ever really satisfied with the result. Even if they are satisfied with the one operation, then there is usually something else they want to change. I myself want people to accept me for who i am, not who they think I should be.

It is not some idealistic thinking of how they are "supposed" to look. It's for themselves. They feel they need it and people around them tell them they don't need it. It's is a misconception that people do it to "fit in".

In my own opinion I don't like plastic surgery or cosmetic surgery. It is so wrong. It is against the rule of nature. I know that only surgery to repair a cleft lip or cleft palate that's more understandable, but repairing a nose for a lift, and stretching the skin to lessen the wrinkles. It is so wrong. I believe the saying that we are what we are. I know that we are made with this face, with this voice, with this personality and no one can manipulate this. It is very deceiving. If a person looks very ugly they can have this reconstructive surgery until they'll look gorgeous. I'm not against it on any way. I am just trying to imply the fact that this type of surgeries are such a waste of money. If only they'll spend their money on helping others rather than making theirselves beautiful. This is my opinion regarding cosmetic surgery. I hope I have not hurt any one's feeling.

I think it all depends on the person. If someone is truly self-concious about a certain physical feature and it can be improved with surgery and thus improve their self-esteem then by all means they should do it. I have seen some very beautiful people tho that get hung up on something that is perfectly fine as is. In those cases, you have to wonder if once the surgery is done if they will be happy or if they will find another hang-up. I've never had any done and don't imagine that I ever would altho I am certainly not physically perfect. To each his own, I guess.

I am beginning to consider having surgery myself. I am in the process of losing weight and though I have no desire to be skinny, I do want to be healthy and look and feel good. That's going to take a little more help than I can do for myself. So when I get to where I want to be and where I feel comfortable - I will go to a Doctor and talk about having a little something done, but not on my face. I don't want that unnatural surprised look.

Hello Langleben, I don't think I will go for a cosmetic surgery to make me look pretty. In fact, we should appreciate on what we have and what we are. More ever it is so expensive for a cosmetic surgery. For me, I think cosmetic surgery is very important, but not for the mean to make some one looks more pretty. For a normal person, it is advise not to take any cosmetic surgery. What if the surgery isn't successful ? And how will you look after 20 years later? Is the surgery can last till you get old? I think Cosmetic surgery is important for Those who had an accident and hurt themselves and no choice but to go for the surgery.

for me, changing whatever you have is a big no no to me.. it's a GOD's gift and be contented of what you have.. and i know there are people who are not contented of what they have, so they undergo surgery but if they do, better be prepared and be sure on it.. it's a tough decision, and needs to be think a million times..

I would probably only have cosmetic surgery if I had been in some kind of accident that did something to my skin. I don't have a problem as such with people wanting it themselves unless it is to the extreme and they don't need it.

I have nothing against cosmetic surgery and would not rule it out in the future for myself. I feel that it does help people especially if they have something that they don't like about themselves that knocks their confidence a bit then why not get it fixed. Although surgery does have it's bad side, people can become addicted or are never happy with the end result. Overall I think it's useful in the right circumstances.

In some cases cosmetic surgery is necessary. Certain things like serious reconstruction is needed sometimes. In cases like bad teeth for example. If you feel you are too young for something like dentures of bridges, then it would be acceptable to get implants, which are considered "cosmetic". Or if you have a deformity of some sort, like a clef lip, that would also be an acceptable form of "cosmetic" surgery. I don't agree with everyone getting cosmetic surgery just to boost their ego. I, of course, have no place to tell anyone what they should or should not do, but I have my opinions on it. If it is something that you truly feel you can't live with, then go ahead, get the surgery. The most important thing to remember is that not all surgeons do the job well, there are always risks, even if the doctor is top notch.

with a very good doctor, one's beauty can be enhanced with cosmetic surgery. most of those in the entertainment business, the actressess mostly, are a big "fan" to cosmetic surgery. i don't think i would for cosmetic surgery myself. in the first place, i am contented with how i look. secondly, i don't have the money to pay for it. thirdly, with the so many news about the ill effects of the surgery and its procedure, i won't ever try it. lately, in the news here is one lady singer who had butt augmentation years ago. now, she comes out to sue the doctor because her butt is rotting. ewwww!

Cosmetic surgery is not for me. I will age naturally. A friend of mine had cosmetic surgery to make him look younger, and it did for a time, but now it seems to have worn off, or he needs more to keep a younger appearance. It is ongoing. As I said, not for me!

hi langleben well for starters you view with a mans eyes but aside from girls that just want to look prettier there are women who have A really ugly facial flaw that can be remedied with cosmetic surgery And the result is she again feels good about herself and I for one am really glad she could do that for herself.she may be the best most improved person ever but she had no self esteem as she looked rather ugly. why not let her feel good about herself again.

Sometimes its good and sometimes its overdone. Michael Jackson had complications after his skin surgery. One cannot expect to become extremley beautiful with surgery. People should not become obsessed over beauty.

Yeah, i think beauty is relative. Everyone have different definition of the beauty. About cosmetic surgery, many people not only woman who didn't have selfconfidence take this one as the solution. For me, personally i disagree with people who doesn't confidence with their appearance and then solve it with surgery. I think we should say thank to our God for our perfect body. God give us two eyes, two hands, two foot, etc. What a perfect body. Do you know that this surgery could become an addict. Once you take the surgery you will not feel satisfied, you'll think that there's something needed with your nose shape, unsatisfied with your chin, so you want take the surgery one more, twice, and more, and more. It is very waste your money and time. Maybe your friend should stop it before it stop her life.

I don't really think I would ever get it done. God made us the way we are for a reason. I don't have anything against it either though. But I do believe that sometimes people tend to go overboard with the surgeries. It's like once u get one done, they want ten more.
