Rainy Day Comfort Food

Philippines

Its raining here in the Philippines. The weather is a bit cold here where I live and I have been craving for comfort food that will cheer me in this dismal weather. My comfort food is Champorado. Its a dish made out of rice and chocolate and milk. Similar to porridge and just right for rainy days such as today. What about you? What is your rainy day comfort food?

That sounds dilecios. It is great how many cultures can come up with some interesting ingredients and blend them together. My comfort food for any occassion would be oreo cookies. I like dunking them in my milk. I like when they are nice and soft with the milk. I can eat a whole box. This is why I try not to keep them in my home. happy lotting.

Sounds delicious! I like hot buttered toast, on a cold evening, or a nice scotch broth soup, to warm me up. :)

I want sweets when it is gloomy outside, especially chocolate. I guess the caffeine and sugar helps me feel more alert.

I'm from the Philippines, too, and my favorite rainy day comfort food is arroz caldo! I like it with lots of spring onions and golden brown garlic topping. Yummy! It's rainy outside right now and would love to have some of that arroz caldo but I have just had my banana cue.

It's raining here too in Arizona - a thunderstorm, and hot. I never thought about comfort food, but you dish sounds similar to our rice pudding. I use rice, eggs, milk and sugar, a little vanilla, and raisins and nutmeg. Bake the dish for 45 minutes or so. It can be made like a soft custard, or firmer and served with milk or cream.

I like to eat all kinds of food when it's raining. The most cravable for me is sauteed sardines with garlic, onions, tomatoes and some calamansi (local lemons) over hot rice.

hey there. Oooh that does sound yummy and perfect comfort food for a cold rainy day. If it is cold and rainy I love to have big hearty soups. It always makes me feel better. One of my favourites to cook is carrot and corrinader, healthy spicy and delicious! If I want to have a pig out will have a hot spicy curry. I love spicy food and it always features on my menus. I seem unable to cook anything without adding chilli to it!! If I just want to treat myself I will make a Banoffee pie. It is an English pudding. It is a rich buscuit base with cooked condensed milk on top (toffee). Then on top goes sliced banana and topped with whipped cream and chocolate flakes. Yummy!!!
