There is a lot of prejudice and many prejudiced people. Look around, everyone is judging everyone else. In schools/colleges, it is about the 'Group' you belong to. Labeled into factions like goths, geeks, preps and they are ridiculed if they try to come out of it. Then it changes to economic conditions. Rich will not stand next to poor people. Skin colour, Ethnicity, Religion, Music people listen to .. you name it. We judge everything and everyone.

I honestly do not think prejudice as a whole can be eradicated, no. We as humans are programmed in our heads in such a way that we always prefer our community, our ideas, our country etc over someone else. But what we can do is make sure that people are educated, if not educated then at least informed that prejudice is probably the main reason why there is so much unrest. It is probably one the main reasons why people fight with each other. It is not bad to promote our own community, our ideas as long as we make sure we are not hurting some one else, or if we make sure that a person does not get something he truly deserves only because he was prejudiced against. If people can be made to understand that hurting someone mainly because of their place of origin, their religion, their ideas community etc will only bring more trouble, after all, we ourselves will get defensive if someone said something about the things we hold dear, won't we ??

hey there. Yes unfortunatley there is still prejudice in all parts of the world. It is evident that there are prejudices based on colour, gender, ability, sexuality and religion. Religion has a lot to answer for and it is these very prejudices that have contributed to the starting on numerous wars. Just look at the Middle East. I think that many people are prejudice whether they realise it or not. The reason for this could be an inate human quality or something that we are socialised to believe in. I think people are becoming more tolerant or maybe they are just not expressing their prejudices as much! I would like to think that I am not prejudice and try to not judege people based on any of the aforementioned. It is important to try and think for oyurself and not listen to the media too much when making up your mind about people that are different to yourselves. I think the diveristy makes the world an interesting place. I think the only way to stop prjudice to is educate people. It is usually ignorance and misinformation that leads to prejudice. Otherwise the myths will continue and the barriers will never be broken down.

I think you really hit the nail on the head.. education and media.. outside influences.. I think educating people can be done for good or for bad.. people are programmed for good or for bad by the people they associate with, the shows they watch etc.

I know I'm prejudice. I would like to be better but I always find myself labeling everything and everyone. I think it's just human nature to be honest.

Why do you label people and things? How do you label them? Do you call them names..avoid them?
