Hubby swears he'll be more than willing to drive me nuts watching it. I duno PBS does them like everyother week I don't care who's performing I'm not watching it. Can't afford to donate to it either. & for being a chairity fundraiser I don't support Jerry Lewis takin a cut of the monies raised either... seems a lil unethical in my opinion.

I'd never heard of him taking a cut of the money. Perhaps it is just to pay for the expense of having the show?

My hubby said he heard about it even in the 80's but according to Snopes he doesn't take a dime. http://www.snopes.com/radiotv/tv/telethon.asp But I was reading elsewhere that in the 90's one of the execs took over $250,000, I dunno bout you but I think that's excessive now days. I know people need to make a living but I recall also when Dole's wife was in charge of the Red Cross making $200,000+ she was criticized.

I never watch it. MDA is a worthy charity but I can't afford to donate, either. I don't watch much TV anyway.

I've always watched a bit of it in the past, and I assume that I will probably do the same this year as well. I used to donate a little bit of money to them each year, but now not so much. I now prefer to donate my money to another foundation that is near and dear to my heart, St. Jude's Children's hospital. I've never had anyone related to me at St. Jude's, but I had a cousin that had cancer as a child and also a little boy that I taught in CCD several years ago that was a St. Jude's patient. So, I will probably see a little bit of the telethon, but I won't be donating and I won't be attached to the television to watch it.
