Are dinosaurs real or did they ever existed as we have known them to be?

I'm quite sure that dinosaurs existed, because there are tons of fossils and evidences in archeology that supports it. I know that creationists are against anything about Darwin's evolution theories, so the professor would naturally disagree about the existence of dinosaurs as well. But my belief is that evolution is a legit theory, and that dinosaurs did exist. I guess the professor had the right to believe whatever he wanted to believe in, but I thinks it's not always a good idea to base conclusions on the accounts of the Bible instead of solid evidences, don't you think? By the way, I think dinosaurs are very cool creatures. :D

I'm afraid that your Creationist professor was seriously misled. He based his opinions mainly on the Bible and NOT on the 'findings of Science'. Science, in fact, has solid and concrete evidence that dinosaurs (and many other species) existed and flourished for billions of years. There is much speculation about why they became extinct and why other species survived but it is generally agreed that the world has not always been as we know it today and that the Bible's timespan of less than 10,000 years is really a crazy fiction based on a small tribal community's notion of time. The Bible does not, in essence, lie, but it speaks in poetic and metaphorical language about past and future events. People who read it literally are seriously undervaluing their own intelligence! Of course, most of the fiction books and movies are just as inaccurate (but knowingly so and consciously as fiction). The Bible is only 'truthful' within its own context of truth, which many people today do not understand because we seem to be fixated on scientific accuracy and actual proof rather than poetic license and spiritual understanding.
