Do you get scared in dark?

I've come across a lots of people mentioning how scary it can get wen one is in dark. I personally don feel scared of being in dark, not even wen m alone. My best friend cannot sleep without the lights on. But i ges most of the people get scared in dark. I sometimes wonder as to wat freaks them out so much??

One of my grandchildren is scared of the dark and has to sleep with a small light on. He is eight.
But a couple of years ago I went for a vacation an left a lady in charge of the house. She had to feed the dog and water the garden if needed. As for the rest, she could do as she pleased because I thought they were going to be like paid vacations for her too ( she is a very special person in my heart). But when I came back, she told me she had to sleep during the day. My house creaked and she was so afraid that she spent the whole night seated in the stairs. OMG!!!
I live alone here and never have feared aything but earthquakes. I believe it´s because they think most people are bad and will harm them. I think the opposite.

My ex-girlfriend was once really upset and in fear as she started hearing a very strange noise in her room during the night everyday. So i decided to find out wat the heck is goin on.. I spent that night at her place and asked her to do exactly wat she wud before goin to sleep. Unlike during the day she turns on the AC and the ceiling fan in the room. i cud hear the same noise..i wondered where is the noise coming from? finally after some James Bond act we figured out that it was becoz of the door knob of her room which was hanging as it somehow dint have a screw to fix it. as the ceiling fan was also on.. coz of the air the knob kept moving rubbing against the door. that was the mystery.. which finally got solved.

very true... it is hard to imagine myself spending a whole night in a dark room without any company. the thot itself is so boring..

Boring? Maybe. When my mother is a little girl, she often had to walk alone in dark night without moonlight, for in early days there are not so many lamps. I'm more lucky because I think walking alone in dark is even more scaring than staying in a dark room. And electricity breakdown may happen nowadays, though it's rare.

It is scary because darkness is associated with evil or monsters or anything hideous. I've never been in a specif situation that I stayed in complete darkness for a long period of time but as I can imagine it is scary indeed.

trust me i have been in rather a scary pitch dark place as u wud call it for almost 4 hrs.. totally alone.. really cant think of even a moment that i got scared.. i was only worried that i got stranded at such place.. and there was no one to help at that hour of the night..
if there is nything such as evil.. then its only ur fear..

absolutely.. its all in our head.. wat we think is wat we feel.. if one thinks the dark is scary.. then thats wat one wud feel... scared!!!
i admire people who don get scared of the dark.. for that matter anything..

hmmm.. now that i never thot of...may be thats why i don get scared. next time i'l try to think wat might appear from the dark, lol.
but on a serious note there is nothing to be afraid of the dark. Its all psychological..

hmm... i can sleep in the darkness of my room, but not in other rooms. In fact, i was trapped in an elevator when the power got cut. i was there for 3 minutes and i was shouting heeeelppp!!! it was 10pm right after my second job in another buildng. i really find darkness creepy.
i believe in divine guidance but i was really freaking out with the darkness...

I think fear is a good thing because if we don't fear anything then we can become reckless and careless. Being afraid of the dark is quite normal because people are afraid of things unseen and unknown. This is how you get myths and legends.
What really freak me out about the dark is the things that may be lurking in the dark that you can't see. Some animals thrive in the dark. Unlike humans, animals are able to see in the dark so they have an advantage over us. What if they just jump on you? That will scare the living daylights out of you.
