I've been discriminated against for being an American and a conservative one at that in my Australian high school before. I suppose it didn't help because I sounded different (with an American accent) and looked different (with my very Asian face) to them all. I guess I was an easy target at the time. It only really came out with the whole Iraq controversy and everyone just immediately was like "Oh, you're American and a conservative so this is all your fault." There are times where there's just no point in trying to defend yourself, people are going to carry their prejudices whether you like them or not. No point in exacerbating the condition.

Yes. The way I look and my height. Years ago when I was fresh out of college, I got a job working with kids. One of the kids had a holy terror of a mother. She took one look at me and said oh, no you will not be taking care of my child. Then she began to ramble on about how her child needed an adult. Because only adults know how to take care of children.
I was in my early twenties and just out of college. I am short and looked like I was 12.
I went straight to my supervisor and told her what was going on.
I understand that parents are protective of their children, but I was hired by this company for a reason. I had the background and education. I guess she didn't think of that.
