How vast are your musical tastes?

Lately I have been hooking my mp3 player up to the car stereo when my mom and I are out driving around and she asks me at least once a day, "where do you find your music?" This question usually comes when Johnny Cash follows AFI, or something equally awkward.
I can honestly say that I like a little bit of everything. I don't listen to a lot of rap/hip hop but here and there a song will catch my attention and I'll have to add it to my collection. I don't listen to a lot of pop (radio) country but I do like a lot of Kenny Chesney's songs...not all but several. Literally, I can probably think of at least one song out of almost every genre you can think of that I enjoy. Classical, rock, swing, jazz, blues, classic country, indie, folk, opera....okay maybe not opera but just because I don't know any of the names of any of the songs.
So what are your tastes like? Do you listen primarily to rap, country, jazz...or are you a hopeless audiophile like me?

I mostly listen to Christian rock. I live on heavy metal and hard rock, anything with a great singer and ripping guitar player.

I listen primarly to almost anything but rap or hip-hop. I guess I don't like indie rock so much as a whole either, but there are a few bands that I really dig however. So I'd say my tastes are pretty vast, among all the genres that are left I like a ton of various bands.

I am much like you. My musical tastes run the gamut of the genres out there. It can strike others as odd that someone's tastes shift so dramatically from one area to another.
Personally, I think it's great. Why limit yourself to one type of music when there are so many great ones out there? It's not like food, you won't get fat if you listen to a variety of music. There is so much beauty in the world, and music is part of it.
Also, music is a bit like moods. For every mood there is a song out there fits it perfectly. Since our moods are as varied as the rainbow, so should our music be.

I listen to almost anything as long as the tune is catchy. I've recently acquired a taste for fusion jazz music because the keyboardist in my band is also a keyboardist in a jazz band and keep inviting me to his gigs. My preference would fall on rock and jazz, I guess. I listen to hip hop only but my hip hop experience is limited only to the good ones. I love it when those RnB artists do a ballad too.

I'm an audiophile too! I love many different types of music, everything from ballads to screamo. And I love AFI too! It's a lot of fun. While I like old bands like the Beatles, I also like new bands like P!ATD and even lesser known bands like ISMFOF and Madina Lake. I think it's important to know different kinds of music, since it's impossible to express yourself with only one.
