Is a reality tv show really reality?

i ask because people on these shows are put into situations that arent very realistic so therfore there reactions are also not what they would usually be so how can it be real?

i dont think they have a script but they are not reality in the real sense of the word

I don't get the reality part on most if those shows because it isn't real life..racing around the world or the survivor show? Life is not Gilligan's Island..it's working and laundry and cleaning the toliet...now that's reality!

With perhaps the exception of COPS, these other so-called 'reality' programs are about as distant from reality as any fictionalized drama you might see on Lifetime. If you're seeking television programs that depict realistic accounts of events, people, and situations, I would advise watching documentaries.
