i think the most important thing is you should have a open mind as the different country has different attitude for the same thing. if you have it, you will get some new friends. You‘re easy to accustomer to your new life. by the way, will you transfer from Cuba to USA?

thanks to everyone so far for your comments. i am very open to new ideas and cultures so i think that will be the easy part. what i really find will be challenging is living without lifes small mercies like a shopping mall and fast food reastaurants. lol but i have my mind focussed on doing the best i can in Cuba. i dont thik i will transfer to america or that i even can?? i want to help people in third world countries and do some travelling with a missionary group i've heard of. they have a website so anyone interested in helping or just finding out what they're about could visit. youth.saintluciaadventist.org let me know what you think of them and their ideas

You've really got to be open to new ideas and new ways of life. It's not the same in every country and they all have their own customs, slang and culture. Sure you may not see it as very "cultured" but it's a way of life. I've once been travelling with a friend and she freaked out when she saw a guy jogging without his shirt on. She even pulled my arm and was like "Oh my God, I can't believe that!". As for me, I come from a different background and where I live, guys jogging and going about where ever without their shirts on is a common occurrence. People go places and fill gas and do the grocery shopping in shorts and flip flops. So yeah. Be prepared for a potential cultural shock, but make sure you keep your mind open to new ideas. There's things we can learn from all countries and cultures. :) Ohyeah, and good luck with your studies!!

Welcome to My Lot. I have been to America and think it is an interesting place to live. It is a large country so parts of it differ. I like it in sunny California. I haven't yet been to Cuba but know it is a tropical island in the Caribbean Sea. It has palm fringed beaches and green hills. It has a government that is communist. I think working with the local people there would be rewarding. Good luck with your studies.
