Smiling to others means being friendly,even if they doenes't like you,you should be polite and friendly to them,don't try to annoy the hell out of them,it's not good to everyone.Just smile sincerely to them,I believe they will change the attitude towards you someday.Besides,it could make you feel better.

I try to be nice to everyone even if I don't like someone or if they don't like me for whatever reason. I can fake smile with the best of them.

Dear jen, If I know the person do not like me. I will just ignore the person, why want to waste my precious time with this type of people. It is not worth it! My favourite phrase :- We can't please everybody! Live our life to the fullest, Cheers!

When I know someone doesn't like me, I usually smile when I have to. If we need to work together despite not liking each other, I try to act civil and helpful. I wouldn't smile to annoy them unless they were a really bad person, but it would not be a fake smile. It would be a sinister smile. So I don't think I'm a plastic person.
