How I Tweet

I first signed in to Twitter back when it was just a geek application. Most of the people who had accounts were bloggers, and tech guys from magazines and web sites. I went over a year looking at a set of half a dozen follower. Then at the beginning of the year I came back to check out Twitter, and followed a couple of people because it was part of a contest I was entering. Then I saw one of those build your twitter adds and in a couple of months as twitter grew my number of people I followed and my followers grew. I had around 2000 people I followed and 1500 who followed me. That is where I hit the wall. They have an anti stalking rule that says if your difference in those you follow and those who follow you is too large you are restricted from following any more. I figured it was time to find out who I followed who wasn't following me back. There were people like Ashton Kutschner and his wife, Demi Moore Kutschner. There were online gurus like Guy Kawasaki. But there were also just regular people who didn't follow me when I followed them. How was I going to find 400+ people who didn't follow me. I found a program called 'Your Twitter Karma'. It is online and you go there and let it go through your lists of followers and following and it will let you know who isn't reciprocating with you. You can block and unfollow right from the web page or you can do something else. I still wanted to follow some who just didn't follow back. What was I to do? I found a Twitter client called HootSuite. It lets you build tabs with various criteria. I have a page that is all of my personal feeds. The one of all of those I follow. One of my own posts. One with direct messages. One with direct messages I make. One with posts that mention me with @brothertuck. I have a page of people I know personally off line, I follow them in my regular feed but have a separate link there. I have a page of sports feeds. I have it pulls a search of the Philadelphia Teams and of Nascar so I can see what news there is and what people are saying. I have a page that is 8 feeds ranging from Penn and Teller, Tech people, Shopping sites, Celebrities, Business Gurus, Friends from Social Networks like this (I see you RedHeadRocksSocks) and 2 more. The ones who follow me in return I follow in Twitter. The ones who don't follow people I follow them here and not in the official Twitter feed. You don't need to actually follow them, to follow them, you just need to link to their page. The choices of what you can follow is your own feeds, search feeds, individual people, I can't remember the 4th type of column and can't check because the site is going through normal maintenance. Now I keep my followers and those I follow fairly even, and I get to keep track of the people I want to.

I am still new in Twitter about more than a month and I have 49 followers already and posted 100+ tweets. I follow some of my followers if I find their topics interesting (based on what they tweet, not just simple "what i do"). Mostly I follow people who tweet information.
