I personally have no use for religion and quite frankly dont quite understand why ppl choose to follow any given religion so intensely it creates hatred, violence, wars and so on.....Basically religion means nothing to me....I'm not nor will I ever be again (I was once in my life) a religous person...I am however very spiritual and my life is far more balanced, complete and peaceful because of it..

religions never created wars.. ppl created wars.. religion is just a way of life. Now you will say why not to live your life your own way.. Well, you might be able to lead it prefectly, but alot cant. Everybody needs guidance... And i suggest you study one religion before you put ur experience with it.. Peace :)

And i suggest you study one religion before you put ur experience with it.. LOL I've "studied" MANY religions sweetie in fact its something I thoroughly enjoy doing and have for many yrs now... RELIGION does NOT create war you are very correct UNFORTUNATELY the hatred that stems from religion causes ppl to start wars IN THE NAME OF and BECAUSE OF religion..thats been going on for CENTURIES...so yes IMO religion DOES start wars...

I agree with Ravenladyj. Religions are the root of hatred. Just because someone does not accept their ideology, they have waged wars, destroyed indigenous people and their culture for many centuries. this is a hard fact that happened in the not so distance past. spirituality is not concerned with what faith you are following or which god you have to pray to. its is only concerned with the truth that one encounters. a person on the path of spirituality does not set out with a fixed parameters. he is charts his way as he goes forward. its an open space for him. whatever truth he encounters, its just his truth. it could differ with another person's, who is also on the same path. but they will not get into a conflict to decide who is right. precisely here spirituality is way above the religions. and precisely this is what people who follow religions do not understand and would not want to understand. I am supporting Ravenladyj, because she praised me for the comments I made here in the discussion. I find her views more acceptable and open to accepting the truth as it is. laserfllight, people made religions, not god. religious texts are full of hatred for the others who do not follow them. god and prophets have been spewing this venom, which again is carried around by the faithfuls. crusades and jihads are religious wars. these wars were sanctioned by the religious heads as right thing. its true people are involved in it and they have to be blamed, but the teaching of the religions are also to be blamed for this tendency to go to war over a silly ideology. people on their own can lead a ideal life. people are capable of guiding themselves to the right path. for that religion is not needed. human history has proved that many times.

Religion is a lower state of life. while Spirituality is the higher state of life. Religion is mere belief, Spirituality is experience of the divine. Religion always makes a claim of having the truth. spirituality needs no proof to support its claim, it is self evident.

Spirituality is experience of the divine. That is SO true! and beautifully put too btw.. Religion always makes a claim of having the truth. spirituality needs no proof to support its claim, it is self evident again very true and nicely worded...
