My credit isn't that good. I want to get a credit card, but it seems that many will only give you one if you give them a cash deposit first. For example, you give them $500, and they give a credit card but you can only make purchases up to $500. Theycall this a 'secured credit card'. Does anyone know of credit card I can get in which I don't have to deposit a wad of cash first?

I've heard of those secured cards....they are nothing more than glorified versions of the "gift" Visa cards you can buy in the supermarket check out line. Try First Premier. I have really bad credit too but I have two cards with them. Very low credit limits but as long as you pay your bill on time they report to all three credit bureaus and help to make your credit better. They do have an annual fee that they spread out as a monthly charge. I'm not sure if the fee is the same for all of their cards but mine is $6 a month. The interest rates are really good too...like 5-6%. I've read some negative reviews but from what I can tell they are all about what happens when you don't make a payment. If you are late three months in a 12 month period they raise your interest rate to the default rate (like 17 or something) but after three months of on time payments it goes back down again...something the negative reviews fail to mention. You just have to pay attention to what you're doing, what you're spending and when your payments are due and everything will work out fine.
