As you pic shows you are not overweight, and you look to be in pretty good shape, it could very well be that your blood pressure is an inherated problem, in which case only a doctor can prescribe the right medication for your problem. Lowering you sodium intake helps, due to a chemical reaction so that is a plus, and there are many herbs and seasonings that you can use to improve the flavor od sodium free foods. Please note that sodium in the levels consumed in most countries including the USA are not good for anyone. I have been told that cinnamon is helpful in controling blood sugar and blood pressure. It is a spice I use often (including in my mexican and italian foods. I try not to use it with sugar but there are times when cinnamon toast is wonderful. Also watch you types of fat intake. Animal fat is the worst and it has been proven that after eating a high animal fat meal, the fat in your blood changes possibly to heart attack levels. There is not a youth age limit to a heartattack or stroke. There are very young people who are at high risk for these problems. Take the time to talk with you doctor to understand exactly what problems you may have (he may want to do bloodwork before this talk). Then go from there. There are some really good cookbooks that have wonderful tasting recipes in them available. Good luck with your blood pressure.

you can replace some salt with other spices. Garlick powder goes very nicely and you don't have to use as much salt with it. Also you can use sea salt instead of refined one. That salt is not as bad as the other salts.

For me staying stress free is the best solution. Diet may be of need on this but staying calm and finding ways to lessen stress like fun and exercise is my highest solution on hypertension.

Diet with low salt is essential even though it may not taste good. Medication should be taken regularly. There are many meditation and Yoga postures which really help in reducing Hyper tension. In fact the very famous Baba Ramdev claims the there is a cure for High BP. This is disputed by Doctors. But it is worth a try. You will find Videos of Baba Ramdev on utube.

Research has shown that people whose diet is rich in Potassium(vegetarians for example)are less likely than others to develop high blood pressure. Calcium is also beneficial. Fortunately, potassium and calcium are abundantly present in a large variety of foods. Fruits, Vegetables, beans, fish, fowl and lean meats are full of potassium. Calcium is little more restricted. Foods rich in calcium usually also contains large amounts of sodium and fat, which can increase blood pressure. However, moderate amounts of milk are recommended, as well as yogurt, almonds, bananas, grapes, broccoli, potatoes, beans, tofu and sardines.
