Careers and Promotion

I have realised that for one to be promoted at work, it all depends on connections. Qualifications do not always help one get that better position at work. If just do not like, they won't promote you at work. It is so boring and demotivating. Or, is it only me experiencing this? I am even discouraged to study and complete one of the degrees I am currently doing.

Don't be discouraged. Just give it your best shot. For my own guide and perspective, I work to gain experience, provide for my family-contributing my share, be happy and leave the rest to fate. I don't really care if there are people at work being the boss's pet and etc, because I believe in action that speaks louder than words. Take care, friend..

Thanks. I'll try because it is difficult. For example, they just appointed someone at work and I have more knowledge and experience than her. Now, I have to teach her the work and help her. I also applied for this same position and was not even called for an interview. It is difficult but I will try. I will gain the experience and leave, very soon. But thanks a lot zed- I appreciated it - your works encouraged me to a certain extend.

No worries, AngleSpeed.. life is about trial and error as well. I'm sure you can do it, and remember not to let anything pull you down..all the best to you.

It may not always be the case but you should also consider that being in the workplace is like being in a political environment. And wherever you may go, you should know how to play your cards and act like a "politician". Connections and affiliations can give you some leverage but in the end, what matters most is doing what is right and doing it at your best.
