how to know the papularity of the discussion in mylot ranking

hi mylot freinds,
Every day most of the persons are discussing lot of things,after submitting the discussion,there is mark that my lot ranking 233 out of 4207 or 2401 out of 4207,which is the best i could not understand the ranking,some times discussions will not get any rankings why,by ranking itself reveal that we have posted a waste discussion ?
