Wherever, mylotters response to my discussions, I feel its only fair to give one responder the "marked best response". I usually give it to the first mylotter to respond. Sometimes to the one that makes me laugh out loud. How do you pick your "marked best response"?

I just do not base my best response in the length of the response. I see to it that that certain reply has a value, it helped in making the discussion more active and it gives a sense. Because sometimes, other mylotters just responds to a topic and then they never even care to come back again to discuss it deeper.

First of all, we aren't supposed to give the best reaponse until at least a week has past, which gives others a chance to respond, and you would probably get much better reaponses that wasy. I usually wait much longer to give the best response. I like to see if I am going to get anymore responses to my discussions. If not, then I will give the best response. It isn't uncommon for people to wait months to give the best response. Basically, I read all the responses, and the one that comes closest to answering my question, then that user gets the best response. It makes me feel good to give the best response as it lets the user know that I did take the time to read their response and give them the best one. When I get the best response, it works the same, as it makes me feel good to know they they thought enough of my response to give me the best one. I hope this has helped you understand how I choose the best response. God luck to you and happy mylotting.

I agree with you 'rosekiss', I at least give them a month, and actually 2 months would be better, because you will get a broader view of the discussion from different people!

I consider a number of factors when choosing a best response. a) If i asked a question, did the best response answer it? b) Did the best response go above and beyond? (I asked MyLot members if they liked Turkish delight, and someone actually submitted a recipe!! She got the best response) c) Did the answer stand out for some remarkable reason? Did it make me laugh, did it make me think... e) Did someone say something particularly insightful? e) If I was looking for people who shared my opinion, whose response was closest? There can be many reasons for choosing best responses. Those are just a few of mine.

Well, I don't usually give it to the first that responds, I usually give an ample amount of time for people to find my discussions, and then I look for a real serious, intelligent discussion! Sometimes you will get a discussion that will make you smile! But I do go back, and make sure that I do reward one of them 'best answer', and I don't reward too quickly because there are a lot of people that never get to your discussion at all, until a significant amount of time later !

If my discussion is answered as i expected or in the most informative way , then i give them the best response. But I even appreciate your way of doing it. But many times i even forget to give a best response. Some day, I will review my discussions and put the best response on each of my Discussions.
