I kept getting lost!

Yep. I spent most of the first day on board trying to find my friends. The passenger service on the ship does not give out cabin numbers so, brightness here, managed to lose the paper that gave the cabin numbers and phone numbers. Sixteen floors an d I was lost and 30O people on board. when I was hungry I ate with charming people and I was only found when I went back to my cabin to change and they had left a note on my door. Big sigh of relief. I need to tell you that this is not a blond thing I have going. I have been getting lost all my life as I have no sense of direction. It became embarrassingas when I was on shore people from the ship would come up to me and ask me if I was lost again! Newport, was good. In Boston I got lost and a kind man drove me back to the ship. Bar Harbor was one of the prettiest places that I have ever seen and I was almost lost as I got separated from my friends - but they found me. St. John's in Brunswick in Canada was incredible and I have to do a separate post about Halifax in Nova Scotia as I had an amazing experience. Oh yes, I got lost there too! I would go into an elevator and people ask me if I was lost.It was a wonderful vacation but far too much food was eaten. Cholesterol heaven. We had a wonderful time and the places we visited were beyond the word beautiful. The people were so kind and friendly and I was so impressed with the cleanliness and the civic pride. So USA and Canada thank you for having me visit your beautiful countries. To make this a question. Do you have a good senses of direction or do you get lost easily?

What a great discussion, Cynthi, i really got a kick out of imagining u wandering around lost. I would have porbably been the same way. At least u established u a reputation right quick, lol. It could have been alot worse one . I' so glad u had a good time & glad u got to go. U deserved a break & a good time. TO answer ur question it's hard to get lost in my little town, lol & u know that's where i stay most of the time.

Nearly everyone knew me as , of all things, they videoed me dancing to some oldies and it was shown throughout the ship! Can you picture my embarrassment? so funny really. Very unlikely that I will see most of those people again!

Hi Cynthianne . I am happy to hear you enjoyed your cruise. Canada has certainly struck me as one of the cleanest countries with beautiful parks and gardens which just seems to come alive and invite passersby stop and spend some time. As for my sense of direction, it seems to get worst with age but then again I figure its because I allow my brain to get lazy. I tend to get a bit paniky when I have to find my way around. Since childhood I learnt to cover up that bit of fear but it is always there. I think now I challenge myself a bit more to get directions right or at least to enjoy the experience of getting lost

I guess you could call those new found friends your gaurdian angel . I have always maintained that we had not yet seen the worst of the recession in this our beloved country. There are other countries which were appaarently hard hit at the start and sometime during the recession but our real low seems as if it will come towards the end. I guess each individual and family had better take action now and like the ant start storing food/ making plans how to survive during that low. Its funny though how the partying and 'bashment' dressing just do not seem to be slowing down. People are still partying and having fun just about every day of the week. It makes me wonder just how seriously people take all of this and the actions they have taken to combat the recession. This government had better wise up and really start to get people mobilised to do the necessaries so that we can pull together to make it through this recession. By the way I just realised I have heard nothing further about the five thousand dollar bill. I really think the supermarket / store operators are awful and are getting away with murder. Things are increasing without any ligit reason but then we the consumers just complain and do nothing. It is worrying.

You are so right. The people are partying not realising what has happened to us. I cannot believe the money charged for these events and they are always well dressed etc. I already have a small stock of supplies for emergencies and in my garden have potatoes, breadfruit and ackee trees, sugar cane, plantain and bananas. I also have peppermint and other herbs and seasonings, I am putting in lettuce and pepper seeds and callalloo too. My tomato crop has finished though. I cannot get anything from the farm as the people are hungry and strip the trees of all fruit. even my pear trees have been stripped before the fruit was ready. I sent a message to the people to take what they want but they could leave a little for me to have. They know where to leave it so that it will reach me. To be honest, I am fearful about whatmay happen to us. I do remember the food riots in the seventies and early eighties. I will neve forget that. It is best to stock up on tinned food that will keep and especially detergent. I plan to buy my frits foir Christmas at theend of this month - ther is no guarantee that there wikl be any on the Island by Christmas. and if there is then the price will have doubled. God help us. Many blessings

Oh I made lots of friends getting lost. In the end my friends would pick me up from my cabin at previously specified times. I am glad to have had that break but wa so shocked to see the hike in food prices since I returned. And 30,000 out of work. It is so worrisome as to how they will manage. The students at University whee my daughter is supposed to teach have dropped out as they do not have the money to pay the fees. Her hours have been cut to 3 teaching hours a week. That cannot pay her car payment. I am getting very anxious and praying hard about it all.God help us all. Many thanks and blessings

I don't usually get lost easily if at all. But I do get frustraited. The biggest city nearby had tons of one way streets and tons of traffic.... I had to take my DD1 down there for a field trip and I bout had a panic attack as there was so much construction that when I realized I went the wrong direction, every street was one way and taking me further away from where I needed to go and I was in tears on the phone to my hubby.

Isn't that just horrible? Going the wrong way down a one way street. I have done that so many times that I've stopped counting. I will stop and take directions from any one. It has lked me into some funny and also embarrasing situations though. Blessings

Clearly you need me to go on your next vacation with you. I have a great sense of direction, read a map really well and almost never get lost. Better than GPS and I don't eat that much most days...

Let us shake on it. : cynthie shakes hands with Dawn.) Please let us meet on the next advdenture. I made a massive typo as there were 3000 people on board the Caribbean Princess - not 300. I'm pretty good with maps but he ship was as big as a city and they kept using words like port and aft and take the mid ship elevators. So confusing. I even took a couple of computer classes to learn file management. It really was wonderful and the people so gracious. I had been upgraded to a room with a balcony and it was amazing to sit out ther with a little pre dinner drinkie and watch the sea. I have made a major life change. Not into retirement at all. With my cardio problems I have decided that I might as well max out my credit card each year to see more of the world before I leave it. So, my sister is paying my fare to the U.K. next year and from there we will go to Rome with my eldest sister as well. She was 75 yesterday and when I called her yesterday to wish her a happy birthday she exclaimed : How the *^*# did I get to be this old? She had just come back from dinner in China town in London. It will be an intersting trip to look forward too.

I am glad you enjoyed your vacation even with getting lost.. I have a bad sense of direction..I go the wrong way every time I go to my eye Doctor..When I leave the room I turn the wrong way every time if there is no one to show me the way out.. When I am driving some place and I change the way I go,I will get lost.I do not have a good sense of direction at all.. Welcome home. Blessings to you.

Thank you dear friend for your welcome message to me. I feel so honoured by your kind words. I did have a wonderful trip but also at one part it was quite emotional and I will post about it today if I get a chance. That part of the world - the coastline on the eastern side is so beautiful and the people so welcoming and kind. Many blessings

I am so thankful one of my brothers taught me how to read maps and navigate at the age of 7. It was one of our many family camping trips with ours of driving from one place to another. i was being the typical kid strapped in a seatbelt buffing "are we there yer... when will we get there.." He was tracking our rogress on a map pinned to apiece of celetex and using different color pins for places we had beena nd another color for where we planned to go next. He showed me how to read the mapa nd figureout how far we were from our next stop. I've seldon gotten lost since then if I have a map or at least a compass. I've taken long trips by myself and enjoy new adventures. I have a friend who learned to navigate by land mark more then maps. We have local mountains and if he can't see his mountain he gets lost lol.

Thank you. I enjoyed it so much as i did not rush around all day to see everything. We picked out what to do at breakfast each day and it was all leisurely. Lay down for an hour each afternoon befoe getting ready for the evening;s activities. So I did get plenty of rest as well as fun. I am not so stressed out now and hope to stay this way for a while, Take care dear friend.

I think I have a pretty good sense of direction. I do occasionally get turned around but I usually wander till I figure out where I am going. It sounds like even with the getting lost a lot you had a really good trip. I am glad you had a good time. I finally got the package you sent me while you were gone. Thank you. I emailed you when I got it, but I am sure it is lost in the sea of emails you had waiting for you when you got back.

Glad you had a great time even though you were lost for most of it. I don't have much sense for direction either. I always need to have directions written down or I'll ask someone for help.

I definitely would probably follow the same way as you. I would be lost in a place that big. I would definitely stay as close as I could to my family and maybe after a couple of weeks on the ship I would get used to it but not before then.

Bless your heart! You really had a rough time getting lost, didn't you? It's understandable when you're in strange places. I'm glad you made it back home without any problems. Despite getting lost so much, it sounds like you had a good time, anyway. The nearest big city to me is Birmingham and whenever I go there, I get lost a lot because there are so many one way streets over there. It can really mess a person up. I don't go over there very much these days because I don't have a very dependable car any more. I went to college in Nashville, Tennessee back in the '70s and that town is very easy to get lost in! You can just take a certain turn and all of a sudden your in a different section of town! Otherwise, I have a pretty good sense of direction. Kathy.

I envy you for your good sense of direction. My family and friends are used to me getting lost - even my eldest GD asks all he time that I am driving if I know where I am going!!! It was a fantastic trip. American and Canada are so vast and beautiful. It was a fantastic experience and I also made some new friends on board. This Island is only 120 miles long and 46 miles wide and I get lost frequently! Blessings

I am ashamed of myself! four weeks ago this discussion was made! I really need to clean out my inbox! There are discussions I haven't even responded to, I'm sure I'm losing a lot of good responses just by being so far behind. In any case, I can get lost. I have a pretty okay sense of direction but for e I'd have to be there to say "okay I remember this place" for the most part! lol! I know this small county pretty well, well enough to take the back roads to several different places! Yay for me on that! I don't drive, but will as soon as I can make myself study and get my permit! I am glad you had a good time, I'd be afraid of getting seasick on board a ship!

Such an adventurist! I am very happy staying here in cozy NC. I am afraid about going to TEXAS though I really want to, and from there New Mexico and Arizona... lol, that won't be for awhile though. Those bracelets your talking about, there Magnetic aren't they? You can buy those at wal*mart, though I think you can buy them about anywhere as well.

You have had a very busy month so please do not apologise. The ship was like a city. YOU could get botox injections by docters on board. Just about anything. The firs t night was a bit rough going out of Brooklyn but it was wonderful after that. You can buy these little bracelets that you put in your wrist and y9u don't get seasick. I am prone to seasickness but I was fine. I was worried about that part too. It was unbelievable and if I had the money I would go again. My sister is paying my fare to go to England next year. And now I am saving for my fare to go to Rome in Italy from England. I will go with my two older sisters as I so want to see the grave of 'st. Peter the Apostle. It was found and identified about 20 odd year ago and I would so love to see it before I die. The other big wish is to reach Jerusalem and walk where Our Lord walked. I cannot imagine that one happening as it would cost a small fortune but I do not give up hope. I am old but I still have my dreams and who knows? I could win the lottery!
