Do you think it's okay to tax every sent SMS?

Can you tell me if every text messages or SMS being sent successfully have tax? In our place though, the government (as usual) is planning to charge some tax with telco's consumers both postpaid and prepaid.
For me though, I think that the charge should not be a liability with its consumers. I believe that it should be charged with those telco providers/companies. If this will really put into action, then it will be again another freaking thing that Philippines' President GMA will do. damn!

To be honest that sounds a bit strange if not weird to me. When I think of it though governments do find some of the weirdest things to tax its citizens for. All in a bid to meet governmental expenses.
Wouldnt be surprised if the idea catches on in other countries and gets adopted by other governments. The telecommunication companies are one of the most successful at the moment so they might just be targeted.

Yes, it's really not fair to impose those taxes with its consumers. Government really sucks!

I really think it is not necessary to tax the consumers on this. The telco's have no one to charge for the tax but us users. I really think this would impede our freedom to communicate to one another. I think for government to earn more they only have to curb graft and corruption and the taxes that people pay is enough to make our government functioning properly.
