hello itsonlyndream, it is necessity to know how to drive when you will go abroad. my wife made a promised that once we're back to our country she will learn how to drive. when we came back, she never did it anyway for she is so nervous doing it. our eldest enrolled a driving lesson and already knew. but when we are reminding her to do the same, she always answer me that she prefers to ride rather than driving. maybe because she wrecked our brand new car when we're abroad that's why. she is afraid that she will do the same with our car too. hope she will have the guts and courage to learn so she can drive the car and bring the kids in school especially when i'm in afternoon and night shift.

I think your friend might be suffer from some driving accident or so, that's why people afriad of something because that thing scare them before. I think practise makes perfect, he has to drive more on the road then he might be able to overcome this fear. Good luck to your friend@

Maybe he could try a free online driving simulator - here's one: http://learn4good.com/games/simulation/driverseducation.html

I'm 28 years old and have spent a grand total of about ten hours of my life driving. It's not so much the driving part that scares me, it's the part where other people are driving at the same time. As a passenger I have had a lot of time to watch other people drive and frankly I think they should all have their licenses revoked until they complete a very thorough course in how to. And no "C" students here. Only B+ and A's will be accepted. But I have the same problems. I shake and get all hot when the subject of driving comes up in conversation. Just as with any other fear, facing it is the hard part. Facing it repeatedly makes it easier. I don't know if it makes it go away but it makes it easier.

I used to have a similar problem when i first started driving. The rule is the more you drive and the better you get at it the less afraid you'd be. So keep puting him in front of the drivers seat and eventually it'll get very repetitive and boring. I'm not at that stage yet but at least i'm not as afraid anymore.
