Has WII gaming changed the video gaming experience to a HEALTHY one

Video gaming is generally considered as eating into the outdoor activity, thereby resulting in laziness and no exercise to the body, but with WII comes motion sensors which brings in loads of physical activity to your gaming experience. I burned 1 hour of grand Slam tennis(Doubles) and burned around 50 calories, (compare it to the calories i burn when sittin in front of my computer) and it felt good on the fitness level. So what do you guys say, has the new age gaming changed the whole outlook on video games. Have video games become healthier than they used to be?? Ya i know you can't beat the real experience of playin tennis or anything but i believe this is the first step. Your comments are welcome!

This is a good discussion, and I am sure that different people have different opinions when it comes to video games, and I know that video games is normally a lazy couch potato pastime since it involves sitting on your butt for hours, but since the Wii has come out it seems that video games are being taken to a new level of fun,and I would say they Wii is definitely making the video game experience more healthy because they have so many games that revolve around exercise and helping you lose weight and get into shape and I bought a Wii for my wife for an early Christmas present, and we recently got a balance board from a friend, and it is a lot of exercise and it helps you keep up with your weight loss goals and everything, and it makes me want to exercise because it makes it fun and interesting, and more people should get a Wii especially parents who want their kids to have fun while also getting exercise, have a great day, good luck with your life, and all of your mylotting goals, and Happy Posting.

Thanks for the post. Ya i do agree that the Wii has combined health with fun. I generally go to game parlor once in a week to play Tennis and i can actually feel the difference after playin for an hour, the same tennis game in my home PC and Wii and the amount of calories burnt, the amount of excercise i do to other muscles, everything makes a ifferent. Maybe in sometime i will get a LCD tv and a wii(cose i think Wii is compatible only with LCD/HDTV not the normal CRT ones)

I personally think it does because many popular titles require you to move more or be on your feet as opposed to other games where you're seated for hours and just moving your fingers.

Yup, I totally agree with you. Wii gaming helps exercising your body not just your fingers. And the game play is quite enjoyable you keep moving around and to some extent its like real game simulation runs. Thumbs UP to WII

I think it has made my video gaming a little healthier, as I spend time playing exergaming games like Wii Fit and Gold's Gym on there. For me, though, it is not just about the exercise that makes it a fun system, but also the more active controls make the gameplay experience more enjoyable, realistic, and not as frustrating as crazy button combination games.

Ya i do agree that the graphics are gettin realistic each passing day. Not only with with WII but also with PS3 and XBOX. But the one thing which seperates WII from others is the motion sensin. It makes game play more easier in terms of usage of controls and can help in improving your skill in the real game.

yes i think, wii has changed the way of video games, when my mum use to tell me to go out and play outdoor games, i didn't want to go out and play, now with wii i ca play at home and still exercise my body with the games :) it's a really healthy and very good method of playing video games. the one thing that i would like to take as a negative point is that when i play wii for long hours my hands starts to tire up. except that i think it's the best console out rite now. thank you

yep it has really revolutionize gaming. Some people call the wii "NEW" gen instead of next-gen like ps3 n xbox360, coz of its controls n motion sensing gameplay. the ps3 n xbox360 will also have its motion sensing capabilities sooner or later, e.g. xbox360's natal = full motion sensing of the body movements, and ps3's future contoller ;).. great gaming everyone! ;)
