I am Hispanic and now more than ever, worldwide, people are more racist towards our group. I have three beautiful children and don't like them to be exposed to such hatred at an early age. What places can I move if not Canada? I live in NYC.

why would you think that canadians are racist? I've never heard that they were. Sure its mostly white (french), but they seem like pretty friendly people. I've never heard anyone from canada make any kind of comment about race before.

I have researched it on the internet and saw it posted on various sites. That is why I ask. I am not racist. I love people of all color but I have had experiences in which others have discriminated against me, friends and family members. I just shrug my shoulders and keep walking. Yet, thanks for correcting me. Now I want to go to Canada!!! Thanks. Is it hard though to become a citizen?

I have never heard that Canada is a racist country. I've heard that they're very diverse themselves - and have a lot of different races living there, especially in the cities. If you're worried about racism, though, you should investigate around on the internet to find the provinces and cities in Canada that are more diverse. The more diversity they have; the more tolerant people are of other races, generally. At least it seems to be that way in the United States. And you should know..That racism is largely a thing of the past; or at least it's getting to that point. You shouldn't cancel your trip or reconsider because you think people will treat you in a discriminatory way; people can be pleasantly surprising sometimes!

Oh - oops! I think I misinterpreted your discussion. I thought you meant you wanted to take a trip/vacation to Canada, not up and movie there. I have heard that Canada is largely a peaceful place to live (in comparison to the United States, that is.) Otherwise, us Minnesotans aren't racist! (I guess I mainly speak for myself and my family/friends on this one, though, as I can't predict whether a whole state is predjudiced or not).
