My teens drive me so nuts sometimes that I don't think I will ever need drugs or alcohol. My teens give me everything drugs and alcohol does and more. I have highs and lows, night sweats and nerve problems. I feel like someone is watching me and I feel like I can't ever do anything right! (At least most of the time.) Not, that my kids are bad kids, they make good grades and they don't really do nothing wrong criminal wise. But, they also are soft! They don't know what hard work is or what it is like to not have everything so easy. I mean we are not rich or even well off like most people. But, they don't have to gather food or fetch water. My worst was the clothes on the line. I don't think my kids have ever hung up clothes. Or, would even know how to do it! And, house hold chores. LOL They have all these easy things to help them but still complain. I had to scrub the kitchen & bathroom by had with a brush. They have a swiffer. Yea, I can see the hard work there. What ever!!! So, should I toughen up and go back to that old ways for a while and show them what real work is? Then, maybe, they will do the work when the easy stuff comes back! What do you think? Should I put away the easy and get the hard stuff out so that way they will know what hard work really is? Let me know what you think? Do you think the hard work would open their eye's to how easy they really have it?

I think u would be doing them a big favor by going back. More than likely they will be like us & have to work hard all their lives. They need to be taught to do that. Sure they want agree but i think it would be a good lesson for them.

Well, it didn't work for me and his room is still messy. Now that he is 19 shut your door and where is my rent. As he owes money anyway. So this is my way of getting it back. But he does clean evey once in a while when he is not working as he works two jobs so he knows about hard work. Just not at home.
So you can try it and if it works woo hoo. But if not make them job hunt. Son't give them any money. When they do there work say this is for the food I buy and so on my Dad did. Your friend onlydia

Hi ya Carpathian
I guess it wouldn't do them any harm to revert back and experience realy hard work. My kids are 4, 6 and 8 and complain like crazy if I ever ask them to do anything for me. Actually my youngest protests the least. They can't even keep their own bedrooms tidy. My eldest often asks me for something and when I say no he tells me I am horrible so I tell him that from now on he can wash his own clothes, make his own dinner, wash up his own plate and pay the bills because that is how horrible I am!!
