I just found out that a person I was friendly with and who was in all my classes in my Junior and Senior year of HS and signed my yearbook and took a picture with me on graduation.... now does the voice of Ash Ketchum in the new pokemon series. OMG. I'm really psyched about it. She also starred in (a few?) independant films, did a gig with KISS and sang with Barbara Streisand in Florida? That's what another friend told me today. I don't even know. There's an article about her in wikipedia (Sarah Natochenny... I think I spelled it right :P ) What brushes with fame have you had? Do you know anyone famous? Did you know someone who then became famous?

When my son was in daycare, he had a friend named Jimmy. Jimmy turned out to live just down the street from us, so they would go to each others' houses to play. My son stayed his first all-nighter with Jimmy. In the morning they found that Jimmy's dog had eaten up one of my son's sandals. They were all apologetic, but it was just a play sandal. My son was broken-hearted when Jimmy's mother got transferred to Texas with her job. It was awhile before he got over it. Anyway, years later we started reading about Jimmy in the paper. You see, he's Jimmy Siemers, the 2006 Men's Allover Waterskiing champion and has set a ton of records and won countless honors. If you're interested you can read about him at: http://www.usawaterski.org/pages/bios/men/Bio.SiemersJ.html

Wow, that's incredible. Doesn't that make you feel somewhat special? And almost... I don't know, proud. It's like "I KNOW that person!"
