any suggestions for my trip to New Orleans?

im going to new orleans next week and i already have tours booked as far as ghost, vampire and voodoo and we are staying in the french quarter but other than the french quarter i dont know of much to do there other than the zoo and im not a zoo person..
is there anything interesting outside of the french quarter that you would suggest? we will have a minor (19 yrs old) but we are open to anything pretty much historical or paranormal etc

I have been given the name of places to eat and was told of an island we should see..but dont remember the name now.

There are a TON of art museums and small shops that are fun to go through, the New Orleans Aquarium, Cabuildo, D-Day museum, Odgen Museum, and the Insectarium are all in the down town area as well. You can also catch a ride on the steamboat Natchez to the Audubon Zoo (they also own the Aquarium and Insectarium)
