Poison Ivy, Sumac, Oak, whatever....what a pain!

I moved to TN the 4th of Aug. The first week here, I went to look at a fort my Grandsons had built and wouldn't you know, the only poison whatever-it-was in the whole area reached out and grabbed my ankles. It is now Sept. 11 and I still have it. Oh my gosh, I have NEVER itched so bad!! I know you can't scratch it. I know it can spread FAST. I've been paranoid about it. I've used everything I know to use and even read about some really weird things people have used to help it dry up but I am NOT using bleach full strength on my legs! That was just one crazy suggestion. I'm sitting here right now and the itch is extremely annoying to say the least. If I wear anything that touches the area, I have to wash it before I can wear it again (even my PJs) because the part of the fabric that rubs against the poison can then spread it to more of my legs. ANYWAY....I ALSO got eat up with chiggers when we went elderberry picking that same week. THOSE are awful, too! So here I was, the first week here, with chiggers and poison something-or-other all around my ankles and the chigger bites went up to my knees. I went to the store to get something called chigger-ex that a local had told me about. Amazing...they were sold out. LOL I'm looking forward to winter here when all the chiggers go away for the winter and the poisonous plants are DEAD!! Although I read that even dead, poisonous plants could possibly still get ya. Holy smokes. I am staying OUT of any woods until I'm covered head to toe with bug spray for chiggers or whatever else lurks out there AND covered head to toe with clothes, shoes, boots, gloves, hat, I don't care what, just so the poisonous plants can't get me. Ever had such a problem in your life?????
