Does anybody know why there are black clouds and white clouds? As I know, black clouds can bring thunderstorms whereas white clouds are just an indication for a nice summer day. But why are there these differences in color. The reason could be the density of water drops or the size of the clouds. Otherwise could it be that the altitude is the reason for the difference in color. Do you know the correct reason?

Basically there are three types of clouds... 1.High-level clouds 2.Medium-level clouds 3.Low-level clouds the color of the cloud is depend upon the sun light coming on those cloud.. and its density.. we see high altitude cloud in light color since they receive more sun light.. and sunlight passes give it white color.. while low level clouds receive less sunlight so dark in color.. nothing to do with size of water drops. since high altitude clouds also could have more water as compare to lower.. rain drops are always big, when they leave the cloud.. but while coming down it start breaking up.. and this is the reason we see big rain drops in lower clouds then higher..
