Did anyone watch The Vampire Diaries when it aired Thursday night on the CW? What did you think and did you like it? I liked the show but it did remind me of the Twilight series. Human, Vampire fall for each other and he tries to keep her from harm. Small town, teenagers, etc. I guess that was kind of the point when it comes to the series.

I saw it too. Like True Blood and Twilight, Vampire Diaries is based on a book series- and they all involve a human girl falling for a vamp guy. I think most or all vampire love novels have similar qualities.

Well, the book series which The Vampire Diaries was based on was out well before the Twilight book series appeared on the scene. I watched the pilot last night (it re-airs tonight). I was thinking I wouldn't like the character of Elena, but to my surprise the actress was perfect for the part. I think this show differs in Twlight many ways. For one thing, how weird is it that Stefan is actually the uncle, not the guy he lives with, whom he said was his uncle. I guess his nephew doesn't share the vampire problem, like Stefan and Damon. Plus, what is the deal with Elena looking like Katherine? I don't want a reincarnation thing going on. That would be lame. It was better than I thought it would be. I would never have associated the guy playing Damon being Boone from LOST. That dude is a good actor.

That's a good point. I hadn't thought of that.

Yes, I did see the second episode. I'm glad it wasn't just me. I kept thinking, am I just not getting it? I usually give a show 4 episodes before writing it off, so The Vampire Diaries has two more episodes to impress me.

That's what I thought. Until I saw the end of the football episode.
