I'm watching the 9-11 memorials on television and low and behold a leak was leaked out to the press that there was supposedly shots fired on the patomic river and then later the coast gaurd stated that it was just a training excercise. okay first of all how in the sams you know what did they not realize that it would not be a good day to go and do a training test like this. Boy I know if I was head of homeland security I would be having someone's head to just chew off and spit out for this being made into such a spectacle.

I may be the only one who thinks this but I believe they did the right thing and as jumpy as it may have made some I find comfort in knowing they are staying trained. A terrorist isn't going to say "Oh, it's the anniversary of 9/11 so we better not attack."
I want our defense ready at all times not just when it's convenient for us.

as far as your statement I agree with you to a point. But I also think that certain agencies including the white house should have been informed that it was just training. They also should have put this on a closed circuit radio frequency so no one would be able to hear what is going on and they should look at this too to see about taking measures to keep something like this from leaking out. Any other day the media wouldn't have thought nothing about it. They may have talked about it but it wouldn't have gotten out of control like it did. They broke away from the memorial services to talk about this and that's taking away from the people that set all of this up and set up for the president to be where he was. There many people there at the pentagon that were crossing that river to and fro from the pentagon over to the other side. I would just think that they would have done better alerting people who needed to be alerted about it so that the president and other people wouldn't over react to a situation that wasn't even a situation.

Heads will roll over this, that's a given. The Coast Guard *should* have chosen a different day...they *should* have alerted other agencies as well as the media. The nearby airport kept planes on the ground because the true nature of the situation was unknown, causing delays at other airports throughout the day.

yeah I think they should have went about it in a better way. maybe waited til later in the day or earlier in the morning so there wouldn't have been as much notice going around the training exercise. I think the head of the coast gaurd who planned this will definately get an ear full.
