that's a good question and i'm trying to find a source of listings of independent movies so I can look trough movies I've seen as to be honest I'm not sure which of the thousands of movies I've watched ARE indies. Do you know of such a source?

ok i have it now- i just needed to check if this WAS an Indie film: Ed Wood is my all-time favorite and in fact my all time favorite movie all round (although there is some tough competition this year from the movie Watchmen which I also love)

Oh thanks, and you really made a research for it. I searched that also in wikipedia. And yeah, sounds to be great film.

It's kind of amazing the films that actually are indie films. Like Markodoom mentioned Ed Wood. I didn't know that was produced by an indie studio and I'm a huge Tim Burton fan. But I see some of the most surprising movies on the IFC..like tomorrow night is the Rules of Attraction with James Van Der Beek. That was a very widely marketed film but apparently it was an indie flick. And after that is Chasing Amy.
Anyway, kind of ironic that I should use that as my example because since I am too lazy to actually do the legwork that Mark did I am going to take the easy road and say Saw. But, and this is the ironic part, I just finished watching Wristcutters: A Love Story, which stars Shannyn Sossamon who was also in Rules of Attraction, and it was really good. I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a good light movie that doesn't require a lot of thought or effort.

I'm not sure whether it really classifies as Indie but "Romulus, My Father" was an amazing small-budget Australian film. I guess you could say it would have gotten a little more media coverage because it had a big-budget star in it (Eric Bana), so I'm not really sure if you'd consider it indie enough. :P
