Darn it!
I spent 20 mins composing this review only to get the error "This discussion cannot be posted" when I clicked on the start discussion button!!!
GRRR...
Anyways, I re-wrote this from memory. Hope I got it rite!
I went to watch this movie with my wife recently. And we both left the cinema with mixed reviews.
This is a romantic movie with a twist. An interesting concept.
It is a love story about a man with a genetic disorder that causes him to time travel unpredictably, and about his wife, an artist who has to cope with his frequent absences and dangerous experiences.
The movie opens with Henry sitting at the back of the car. It was Christmas. And his mother and himself were enjoying the ride, supposedly home, singing Christmas carols. Tragedy struck when a run-away truck collided with their car. At that split second before the collision, Henry teleported away to two weeks ago, in their living room. And almost as fast as he was there, he teleported back to the scene of the accident in time to witness his mother's death.
That was when Henry discovered he had an ability to teleport to different time frames of his life. An ability where he could never really control when or where he teleports. A frustration he has had to live with for the better part of his life.
The death of his mother hung on him like a prisoner with a chain and ball.
That is, until he met Claire.
Even though at the point they met in the library, they have never met before, Claire has known Henry all her life. Henry, in his later years teleported to a time when Claire was just a little girl. And he left on her, an impression so deep, she fell in love with him.
Eventually they got married. And there after, the story unfolds to tell of her joy, her pains and her frustrations of having to handle his constant time traveling occurrences.
Like I said, this was an interesting tale. One that explores the intricacies of a relationship and time traveling at the same time.
The pace of the movie is slow. To a point it got boring at some time. But on the whole, the movie was watchable. A story of how one man, could live his life in so many time lines, that he never really left behind anyone after his passing.

I haven't watched that film... but i read the synopsis at wikipedia.org... and reading that really moved me... especially the last part when Claire was already 82 years and Henry at 42(?) appeared and held her in his arm...
The book is already available here in my country but i don't know if i want to read it... it might move me to the point that i wouldn't want the story to end... it is indeed a different kind of love story and the author made use of her own heartaches and happiness to create this story...
Well, maybe one day when i finally get to watch the film... i would read the book afterwards...

hehehe ^_^ I will definitely be watching this movie for sure, rather than 9.. haha =D
I like such movies, because of the romance involved, and the love story behind it.. However, this movie is kinda like another movie, jumper, whereby this is more serious based, as compared to that being more like fun.. hehe ^_^
From your review and the trailer i saw, i'm pretty sure it's quite nice.. THus, i will wanna watch it tomorrow if i have the time.. haha =D
Thanks for sharing!! hehe

Hi ahgong. I haven't seen the movie yet, but I did read the book. I really think I would like to see it, especially since my niece, who recommended the book to me, saw it and liked it. She said that, as usual, the movie did cut out some parts that were in the book, but that it was still good. Like you said, the concept is interesting, and I want to see how it's been adapted for the movie. I don't like many "romance" movies any more, because so many of them are alike. But I usually do tend to like the ones that have an interesting twist in the plot. I hope that I'll be happy when I do get to see it. :)
