Over a year ago, several of us in my family read Ken Follett's "Pillars of the Earth." We became completely engrossed in the history of cathedral building, people's lives among the classes and the overall details and style of writing by Follett. I went on to read "World Without End," which, although it was entertaining, was quite similar to the first story. Since reading about Priory Philip, Tom Builder, Jack Builder and the other characters whose names I can't recall (Caris? the knight, etc), I (and my brother and sister) have been unable to find another book that seduces our love of reading quite like Pillars did. So I'm wondering....did you love Pillars as much as we did....and have you found anything else that compares and is as utterly fascinating while at the same time so enjoyable to read?

No this novel is still fresh in my mind! I don't know how an author can conceive of this and keep all the characters together in his mind? I have read many of his novels and he is truly one of the best of all! tdemex

T - Knights of the Templar - yes - I would love it! I'll check out your link and see where that leads me. Thanks so much! Honestly - how did Ken Follett come up with such a fascinating piece of literature? Every book I pick up to try and read just falls short within the first few pages. I loved getting so lost in his story - the characters, the details of everything about that era and way of life. Incredible.

And I have read Dan Brown - his books are page turners as well. Not the same as Pillars, but at least I'm looking forward to Brown's new release - next month I think?

I too love this particular topic! I will have to checkout this one... You would probably like "The Knights Templar In The New World" by William F Mann Another good one is "Holy Blood, Holy Grail" by Michael Baigent, Richard Leigh, and Henry Licoln
