Today, I saw a Mylot discussion I wanted to respond to but I changed my mind!

I wanted to respond to a mylotter's discussion and as I started typing, I decided I didn't want to because I didn't want to get into a debate on the subject. This mylotter was debating with all the other Mylotters response and didn't seem like a happy camper although it was a touchy subject. Have you ever changed your mind or even gotten into a debate with others Mylotters who responded to your discussion subject and why?

I don't open the discussion if it was like a debate unless it was my friends started discussion. Yes, I also have the experience that i want to respond the discussion but i cant respond. Because, i don't have English as first language and that discussion has the very large paragraph with Excellent English. I cannot understand with my simple English. So, i thought it is better not to respond it. If we were good friends, i will respond even if i may be wrong. After that, my friend may comment me clarifying about the response is it? So, that i may learn something from them too.. Have a great day.

Yes I have and now sometimes I think it's pointless. The whole idea of a discussion is to have a discussion. I people can be passionate about what they think or believe in, but a discussion is supposed to be that not trying to justify what you think. I think a lot of people get sucked into it and then it becomes an all out war zone and those are hard to get out of. I also hate to see a person highjack a post and make it their own - like responding to everyone how wrong they are when they aren't even the original poster. I think all of us have got caught up in it one time or two, but yes I have started then just bowed out because didn't want the hassel of it all.

Well, yes, it's happened to me before to change my mind about replying to a certain discussion around here. Sometimes, it even happens that I'm already halfaway typing the answer and then I just think to myself "not worth it". Because really, there are many discussions around here that aren't worth wasting one's time on.

I've did this numerous times. A lot of times I either got lazy or felt my response was kind of silly or not very helpful. I even typed up a few paragraphs in some discussions only to use the x out tab thinger at the top. .haha, I almost didn't submit this response.. was very close to changing my mind!

this is the common case between many users i am also doing the same thing i even stop writing after completing half of the responses. i have wasted my time in doing this many of the times but now i am writing whatever i can write in a response even if ther is nothing to write about it.

yes your right, some took it seriously though we are just here to share our ideas and not for debate. i guess some are too aggressive about it though if you think that its look like a back fight or become too personal already then try to report it to mylot admin to stop that kind of act. i tried to report one before as i made one post and she took it very seriously an even fight back personally as if im only referring to here alone. and let me just inform all mylotters here. that we dont know each other here so if you read topic about the "you" words there it doesnt mean that we are referring to you alone, post is in general and you is in general its on the matter of how you interpret the topic. we are just here to share our ideas and since we dont know each other then dont just depends on the words "you" alone as this one is very common not just in topic but even in articles.
