When I was in elementary school, we had to write a short story and illustrate it on manila paper. I wrote "The Attack of the Killer Lipstick People" and drew lipstick-shaped people with triangular teeth. The school librarian laminated and posted it on a library wall, so all the students got to see it.

As a high school senior, I and my fellow classmates had an assignment to write about the most beautiful thing. I have always loved the beauty of lightning so wrote about that. Though my English teacher didn't tell the class who wrote the piece, she read it to the class and pronounced it very good. I was pleasantly surprised that she liked it that well and even more pleased that she didn't tell the class that I was the author. I was the type who wanted to fade into the background and never be noticed.

people have always told me my writing was entertaining since i was in elementary school. then, as i got older, some teachers help me further polish my style. in college, my writing was further polished. and during my mba program as well as writing letters and emails to others, i often got compliments on my entertaining style. so, therefore, i was always encouraged to write my novel until i finally self published my first novel on 9/26/06.

I was also in elementary when my writing was first awarded. I can't remember what it was that I had written, but I received awards and was one out of 2 children that were chosen to go read in front of actual famous poets (at the time it wasn't a huge deal to me, so I can't remember their names) and learn from them as well as make this very important looking portfolio of my work. I wish I had a better memory though!
