Do cats eat their prey after playing?

I haven't had a cat for many years now, and he never bought any catches into the house. However, this morning, in the house we are minding, the cat was playing wjth what looked like a field mouse in the kitchen. As I had let it out earlier; it obviously brought its catch in through the cat door. Now, two minutes later, the cat is here, but there's no sigh of the mouse. Would the cat have eaten it? Or can I expect to find it elsewhere? Dread the thought!

I don't think the cat eats it. It might have been stuck somewhere or escaped. I saw a small mouse once my cat played with it out of curiosity. wild cats I imagine will eat anything but indoor would be more selective because they know food is always available from us anyway.

I sure hope it escaped, because no matter how small the small in terrible. I can't see where it could have hidden a mouse, so I hope ot escaped outside.

i dont have a cat either. but long time ago, i was then about 12, i remember having a cat in the house.
some just play but others do eat them. iwwwwwwwwwww!! but that's their nature. problem is if they try to keep it somewhere just like what you probably are thinking. well, i hope not.

I just saw the cat playing with the mouse, and about a minute or two later it was gone, and the cat was purring contentidly, and the mouse was no where to be seen. I searched everywhere but no mouse. I just hope ir's not my nose that leads to it later.

My guess is that the cat just swatted it somewhere, maybe under something or around a corner shelve. Its probably still there somewhere. Even if she did eat it, she would have left something, tail or pieces.
My cat used to catch stuff and bring it to me. My neighbor told me thats what cats do for their owners, kinda like a gift.
Or is it possible that the mouse was still alive enough and took off? I have had that happen also.

I had a look for remains, and couldn't see any, but I know how crafty cats are, so I'd better have a thorough search. Thanks for the advice.
