Anyone here happy writing at Associated Content?

Once again, hi it is me, Laurie. I have been a writer on there since September 8, 2008 which I will admit I like to write about anything I want. what I wanted to say is that for some people, they don't like it at all while for others, they do. It just depends. One professional writer at her site did an article about residual income sites. She thinks they are a big waste of time because for some writing sites where you earn residual, well, you can't really rely on making too much money with them. I have been toying with the idea on having my own website to showcase my writing articles and might as well make money off of them. The upfront payment I have been getting for most of them was in the $2 range somewhere. I know it's not much and yes, it is pretty laughable but it's better than no money at all. Since I am at home for a big chunk of my time since I do take care of the kids, might as well make some using my paypal. Anybody here have a suggestion or anything about Associated Content? If you are currently not a writer on there, you should check it out. So far, this is the second month they gave me residual income. And yes. It's not much for now.

Hi Laurie. I've only been with AC for a few months. I'm not very active there but I think if I was, I'd probably earn quite a bit from hits in residual income. I'm not a US resident so I don't qualify for upfront payments. Helium works better for me because they pay upfront payments and views. I also seem to get more hits on Helium than I do on AC. $2 per article is not bad considering international members dont even get that upfront payment. As for helium, for you to be able to get $2 per article in upfront payment, you need to write at least 200-300 articles if I can remember correctly. $2 doesnt sound very much but it does add up and definitely not laughable I Think. Money is still money, no matter how much or how little; some is always better than none. Thanks for sharing and happy mylotting.

I am a writer at Helium as well with only one article. I had a few at AC where for the first two articles I wrote, it was in the buck range for upfront payment USD. More recently, i got more payments of $2 than $3 and I need to do more writing for them. I also wanted to do more discussions on here but the thing is that it does take more time to do both of being on here and AC. I don't have a star on helium since I only have one. I don't see much potential at Helium for now. I am more interested in making money right now and getting upfront from AC actually help some in conjunction to doing other things online since I am at home for most of the time. Hopefully, I will get to be outside of the house sometime later on this month for school despite that I have young kids where my second daughter won't be back in school until the 22nd. My oldest would be at school full time so it works.

Hi Laurie..congratulations for your 2nd month payout on AC..I also write there whenever I have time and I'm pretty new. I'm not eligible for upfront but only pv..I've reached payout 1 time since I've started and I agree with you that the earnings can be slow, but steady. I also think you should go with creation of your own site with your writings.

Ehow seems like a great website, unfortunately it does not accept international members, from what I've read on their FAQ. You are absolutely right about site(s) folding up should there be trying times; we can't just put all our eggs in 1 basket. That's great, you are a responsible mom, in trying to find some income for your family. And good luck with the school should you ever get decide to pursue. I'll pm you after this with my AC link yeah.. perhaps we are already friends there..

Thanks a bunch. Maybe I can check out your writings on there as well. Give me the link if you can and I can show you mine. I have been a member there since last year September and because I wasn't so active on writing there but did that a lot more in late July, things have started going along at the site. And thanks. But yeah. I kept reading that the best way to make residual income for life is to have your own writings on your own site. Some sites folded where if someone depended on that site to make them income for sure, they would get screwed. But it has been a learning curve. I think I should write more but been doing other stuff to earn income online. Pretty soon I hope, will get to go to school. One class in person and another online. After I have my fourth child, things will get harder at first but eventually I know that if I keep working on AC and stuff, my income would jump higher. I have been getting more money from Ehow. It's time for me to concentrate more at AC and start my own site with my own content.

I have been writing at AC now for a while but not steady. For me I will write a few articles, then quit for a while and then go back. I am not making much from it but I have done some of their "assignments" and been paid $3 for some of them, $2 for others. I just have a hard time focusing so I can write an article that makes sense. I take several medicines that "fog" my brain a bit so I think that may be the problem. I try really hard though and I would like to have lots of decent articles so I can get decent page view payments each month. Right now I don't get much for page views but then I only have around one hundred articles and some of them are sort of stinky, the ones from the very beginning especially. I think my later ones are much better and the page views actually do reflect that. I don't see any money, whether from AC or other places, as being laughable at all. It must be someone who does not live on the edge who said that because every single dollar IN sure beats the alternative which is dollars going OUT. It took me almost a year to get that first residual income payment and I was very very excited by my $1.85!! LOL My daughter writes for AC also, she is the one who told me about it and she has way more articles published than I do, almost a thousand and her page view payments are much better each month. She writes regularly for AC, nearly every single day and her upfront payments are between $2 and $3, once in a while $4 (not much anymore though). Here is my AC link if you get a chance and want to check it out. http://www.associatedcontent.com/user/29369/teresa_wilson.html

Hi i have been with Associated Content for the last two years. It has been a learning curve and my residual income has gone up month by month as i learn what works and what does not. I think it is not a waste of time to write for Associated Content because if you get the right articles then you could earn big. For example, I earned (I can only earn performance views and can not get upfront payments since I am international) 889 hits in one day for one article. This means I made about $1.48 for that one item in a day. It has been earning residual income since then but less. The thing is, articles are also cyclical, my christmas items do well at christmas and my black history stuff does well then also. Now my items on london are picking up due to the olympics coming up! I think it is well worth it.

Hi, does Brighthub pay upfront for international members? This is a major problem I have with Associated Content.

Hi Lauriehomebusiness. Is there a certain form (ie.column) you have to write in? You can write about anything? Do you have to have a blog to write for them? What exacty is residual income? How long are your articles? Do they alway get approved? Where can I view an ie. of an article so I know what I would be getting myself into? How many articles are you expected to complete? I want to try this but I'm out of my comfort zone and, therefore, scared out of my wits. Is there alot of rejection to this?

Thanks for your suggestions laurie, I will check out your profile there. My username there is lucius. I would appreciate it if you check out my work. I think i forgot to mention that you can also get paid for your video, photos and audio files. I dont know if sites like Picasa pay you for posting photos?

I have just started there. I am literally in the process of learning all their guidelines, etc. I think maybe it is going to be good.

Good that you are. Try to read other people's articles on AC when you can because you will learn a lot compare to me. When I started it, I just wrote whatever and the ones that gave me upfront payment for are always so low. Most of my articles are in the $2 range with a few buck something each and about five or six $3 range. The thing to do is to always learn as much as you can while you are there. If your goal is to make more than enough, keep working on the site everyday with the article writing even if you didn't get the upfront payment. The performance payment would be worth getting in the end. Let me know if you need help with anything else and I would be more than happy.

I have been paid by Associated Content several times. They have been prompt and paid in full. While this program may not be for everyone, no program is for everyone. Writing for them can be profitable but it does require some work and understanding of just what they want.

I know. I have gotten paid twice for performance payment so far since I have been working on promoting my AC articles when I can such as for writing work. It is great for beginners that want to have online articles for when they want to apply for writing work online. I wonder if it is still possible to make a grand a month for them or not. I read that now, since they cut the upfront payment, it is harder to make that much each month and let alone $500 a month without performance payment.

I've been writing for Associated Content just over a year now but will admit the first 6 months I did pretty much nothing :( There is no question the only way to make 'good money' on Ac is to submit a ton of articles or write regularly on hot topics. I don't do either so can't complain a bit about my earnings but they are certainly better than some I've seen. Your own web site and selling your own stuff is a great idea but truth is there are a million others doing the same thing and it is really difficult to compete with the big businesses like AC, Triond, and Helium unless you have a specialty that your really great at. I don't really count on the 'earnings' from AC but I have learned a ton of information there from other writters so it's helping me tremendously in that area which will God willing, pay off down the road.

Hi Laurie, I'm a member of Associated Content myself although I'm not really satisfied with their payment structure. I live in the UK so it doesn't really benefit me if you live in my part of the world. However, if you live in the States then there's the upfront payment which is really good. I'm not going to migrate to the States though just so that I can start receiving upfront payments for my writings! I keep my account open with them as I never know when I might want to submit an article. I have however changed my allegiance and have directed this now at Helium. I have over thirty articles published on Helium, mainly creative writing. In terms of payment structure I think that Helium is far better. I should start writing some more articles on that site, you have suddenly given me some inspiration! Andrew

Hey Andrew. Thanks for the response. I am also a member at Helium with only one article. Since you do a lot of writing on the creative side, go for it since I know AC doesn't pay upfront for creative writing. But it also sucks for people that are outside of the US for the upfront payment. I know that lots of international folks that got mad just because they don't live in the state. However, you can get free traffic from there which is good. I also have a few articles at Hubpages which I read there are more people that make really good money compare to AC and Ehow. I am going to give up on ehow to write for them since my income from them has started to dwindle more since they deleted some of my articles there. Now I have 73 articles from 106.
