There is a man living and working in the US leaglly for 18 years. Has a work permit, social security card and a green card. Filed taxes every year. He has been married to a US citizen for 14 years. He now wants to retire. He goes to the social security office to file for retirement. They ask for his green card. He can't give them the green card because it was stollen by a fellow worker. (At least he thinks that because the card and the exworker dissapeared.) Anyway no card no retirement. Even though he paid in all those years. Is this right? What can he do now? What are your thoughts on this senerio?

He needs to get a replacement green card. I'm sure then he would have no problem. I mean, you have to prove who you are regardless of whether you are a citizen or not. If he can't do that, then I think that stinks!
